Clayborn earns praise from Tampa coaches

Not sure who pi$$ed in OK4P's Cheerios last night, but his point about KF/Iowa and the Rose Bowl is an awful one, considering the BCS doesn't guarantee a Big10 team ending up there...

I thought Ok4P.....well was being OK4P I did not think he was being serious with that post.

Ma and him probably got in a fight and he was **** drunk on a single malt spending QT on HN trying to **** people off to fill the void in his heart.

Hawk fans citing the Orange Bowl win as some surrogate for going to the Rose Bowl is as pathetic as clown fan bragging about that period where they won like 4 out of 6 and acting like ISU was better than Iowa because of it. Sorry, but until Kurt gets to a Rose Bowl, he will be an inferior coach to Rod Zook.

All that late night tom-foolery at work curdled your brain?

The 2003 Orange Bowl basically was the Rose Bowl. But because of this goofy-@$$ bowl system we have, the Orange Bowl got to "pick first" and Iowa, rightfully, accepted.

2003 Orange Bowl = 2003 Rose Bowl = Kirk >>> Zook

Rejus Benn Rose Bowls: 1
Adrian Clayborn Rose Bowls: 0

Rejus Benn one epic BCS beat down....

Adrian Clayborn one huge BCS defensive beat down of Ga Tech.....

I'd say Adrian wins.....I’ll never get this idiocy with Rose > BCS, they are one and the same. If you like the Rose Bowl better great, but our being in the Orange bowl is not in any way less than Illinois getting beat down in the Rose Bowl.

Oh yeah, sure it was. Under the old regime, that would have been OSU's game. Same with 2009. It's been over 20 years bince we played in the Rose Bowl. I know you guys will all make excuses for Kurt and blame the BCS, but he is no Hayden. I get that you're all happy with Outback and Insight Bowls and such, but I just want to see the team go to Pasadena once more in my lifetime and if we need to go a different direction with coaching for that to happen, then let's do it. Norm hasn't taken a team there bince the '80's with MSU and that is the weak link.

Bince our last Rose Bowl, even allegedly inferior teams like Purdue, Illinois and Northwestern have been to Pasadena. Wisconsin's been to something like 4. Face facts guys, once Wisconsin brought in Alvarez, they took our spot in the upper echelon of the B10. Heck, with the OSU improprieties, MSU should have gone last year bince they could actually beat Wisconsin. Now, in a regime where Iowa will have to win its division and then the conference title game, I'll be stunned if we get to one Rose Bowl in the next 30 years.

Chad - I take it you don't have any friends who are Illini fans who went to the Rose Bowl and sent you multiple pictures of tailgating in the parking lot, inside the stadium, etc. The Orange Bowl is so important that they don't call it the Grandaddy and they play it on some random week night and it usually features some Big Least or ACC crap team and a marginal Big 12 team like KU or something. The Orange Bowl used to mean something when it was Nebraska or Oklahoma playing Miami or someone good, but now with the additional BCS game, it features worse competition than the Cap One bowl in most years.

Pretty sad how far things have slipped in terms of expectations from our fan base thanks to apologists like Chad who are happy with Floyd residing in Minnesota, consistent losses to Northwestern and what now passes for a great year (which in the past decade have included losses to Northwestern (2009) and ISU (2002)) concluding with an Orange Bowl berth. Rose Bowl or bust.

I believe the two eleven win seasons in 2002 and 2009 are why they were considered sucessful seasons. Quit dwelling on the losses you pessimistic ****.

Just when I had finally decided you aren’t the clown everyone thought you were…..

Couple quick things and then I will cease to dialogue with the logically inept….

I live and work in Illinois, they have so few fans it really is shocking. In fact they never bull up on me about Iowa because for the most part they get it, they are no Iowa. In fact in the car dealership where I manage most of them have become Iowa fans. They love the way they play.

2nd…if you called me an apologists out loud in front of people that knew me, they’d laugh and roll their eyes so hard you’d feel like a moron. Im about as intense and competitive as there gets, but I get it too.

Finally, very few of the old timers still try to perpetuate the myth that Fry is somehow superior to KF. Similar winning percentage while at Iowa, however if you lop off both of their first 2 years KF has a decided advantage. KF has a way better bowl winning percentage (best in the Big 10 over last 10 years) against better competition.

KF draft picks…..45 in 12 years, HF 63 in 20…..

KF…. more top 10 finishes, has a MAJOR bowl win, 2nd in Big 10 wins since 2001 in a big 10 that is decidedly more difficult than it was in the 80’s……(don’t take my word for it go back and do the math, there are MORE competitive Big 10 teams now than there where then)

In short try again………..

Chad

PS……...if you don’t think HF didn’t have some mind numbing losses and that is your agenda, go back and look. I still sweat that idiotic loss to Tulsa from years ago and that collapse in 1997 and some of those shocking losses to Minnesota or even Illinois when they were terrible, etc, etc……I listed them some time back, there were several head scratchers!

I missed this idiocy last time…….Wiscy hasn’t replaced anyone. Iowa is 17-8-1 vs Wiscy since 1981. In games KF has handled they have either been double digit wins or very close losses, a couple in games where Wiscy was clearly the better team and they still barely won.

Iowa is number two in Big 10 wins and I don’t think Wiscy is even number 4.

Honestly I love cats like this….I just envision them saying this on a big stage and people are laughing and throwing vegetables because they are so out of touch with reality.

Rose Bowls, Chad. Rose Bowls. Count 'em up.

This thread started out really promising with some good info about Clayborn. Now it has morphed into a bunch of crap that a large majority of us don't care about. Get back to the original topic, please.
