CJB...

You don't know what better arm means? What do you do, copy and paste things on the Internet to look smart? CJ could throw with more velocity so the ball would get there quicker. That allows him to throw into tight windows and it gives the receiver a better chance to get yards after catch. If you don't agree that he could throw into tight windows you must have never watched either play a game before. Also when comparing stats, you might want to factor in the receivers each had to work with.
Show me the statistics on each of their 'velocity'? One shred of 'evidence' please! I don't think the Iowa receivers would agree with you (in FACT I know they wouldn't agree with you) that they are less talented or appreciate you saying how 'untalented' they are over and over...P.S. - I love the old standard, 'you must have never watched...', lol. Spoken like a true novice....Sit with me at a game. I'm watching the game ENTIRELY differently than you are, believe me. You're a typical fan who just follows the football around...most are. Do I really have to post footage of JR's 'tight window' throws from 2014??? I will if I have to...

Do I copy and paste things? lol. You never know when you're beat, do you. No, I've spent over 25 years working the 'box' at games and over 25 years breaking to down film, so I see things that you don't see..I figured even someone as challenged as yourself would have figured that out by now............

I'll help you out, PC. Look at JR's TD pass to Smith against Michigan. Smith wasn't even open when he threw it, but he throws an absolute bullet in a 'tight' (lol) window...And the 'arm strength' he showed rolling to his right and firing a bullet between 2 defenders in the endzone against Nebby...Want me to go on? People were disappointed with the 2014 season, so their 'memory' of it changes to fit who they want to blame...happens all the time. Oh, and another thing on the 'receivers they were throwing to'....CJ threw to pretty much the same receivers that JR did in 2014, so CJ's 'receivers' should have been better because they had another year of growth and experience, don't ya think???

I think someone needs some therapy in order to improve his self esteem. He has trouble forming an opinion and he really needs to work on himself because he never feels superior to anyone.

You can't be serious. The arm strength is obvious. If you want to make the argument that arm strength can be overrated I can go down that road.

I am sorta with you on the accuracy thing. CJB struggled with accuracy with the intermediate routes. Where we go separate ways I believe it was a result of not being able to put his lower body into throws because of the groin injury. I believe the real CJB is the one we saw in the ISU game. Granted ISU is a bad litmus test, but the throws he made in that game were pro throws.

You need to go back and listen to what the rose bowl announcers said about CJ as he came on to the field for Iowa's first possession...(and I paraphrase) "he has a quick release, doesn't have the strongest arm, is mobile..etc". Sounds like myself, the Iowa coaches and the announcers are all on the same page, because of our analysis of the facts in evidence. But what do we know? lol. Everyone should just listen to whatever YOU make up because of the way you 'feel'....Let me know when you get tired of making a fool out of yourself....Opinions (not based in fact or knowledge, remember?) are such a waste of time. Care to tell us anymore 'things' not based in fact or knowledge (opinion), lol.

If everything you say is true then why not just stick with JR? If your voice of reason is Matt Millen then I will go with PChawk. Circa 1998 Matt Millen, 2016 PChawk.

I thought I made that clear. They were neck and neck in a lot of areas (JR a 'little' better in some ways and CJ a 'little' better in others), but as Davis has said numerous times since he got here, he likes a QB who can 'extend' plays (I believe is how he describes it) and so the nod went to CJ who I agree is better at extending plays (moving in the pocket while keeping eyes downfield and more 'escapability').....Matt Millen doesn't know anything about football? Less than PChawk? lol. Yes, Matt Millen was not a successful GM, but he probably knows a tad more about football than PC. lol. P.S.- The producers that feed the announcers most of their lines have pretty good sources in getting their information.....And the announcers talk to quite a few coaches the week of the game, so the usually have good info. I just don't like when announcers get hung up on 'catch phrases' and repeat them over and over...........

Jr did not have a high caliper arm anyone who watched the entire season would know that. Smart kid with below avg arm. Defenses knew it to. Not entire blame on Jr by any means but if u actually watched the games it was blatantly obvious

Watch the ISU game again. So you are telling me that JR can make that throw out of the end zone to MV? Or that fade TD throw to Hillyer or maybe Smith I can't remeber who it was to, but the throw was on a dime it was a pro throw.

This is ridiculous. I can't decide if you're serious or a troll. I've always spotted them pretty easy. You sound smart on some posts that sound like you have no idea on others. That makes me believe everything you say is full of crap. You really don't believe CJ is better at throwing into tight windows and has more arm strength that Rudock? I can't take anything you say seriously anymore.

How many time's were receivers running wide open down the middle and Rudock never saw them? Running through progressions was not a real strength of Jake either.

We lost two of our top receiver after '14. Sorry about facts. I do agree that if I asked the receivers, they would disagree with me tho. Can you please show me velocity stats to prove Rudock has as strong of an arm as CJ?

I'm not saying. Every coach (including iowa and mich's), analyst, pundit, etc. says it. CJ DOES NOT HAVE GREAT ARM STRENGTH. WHAT DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND? You are too stupid to even waste my time with. Go play a video game or something would ya jr...

I can't believe if your serious or not? There really can't be people as stupid as you walking around unassisted, can there??? You talk so much BS that you can't even remember what you 'spread' so you contradict yourself constantly...

It was clear that the coaches thought they were neck and neck at the beginning of the 2014 season. There is really absolutely no other reason to play your #2 QB like they did if they didn't think he had the potential to be better than the #1 guy. I mean KF isn't stupid, and he doesn't like or want a QB controversy, so it is clear than the staff liked CJ enough to get him on the field.

I think where fans (at least me specifically) have a problem is that since this is the case, and we know that CJ was clearly pushing Jake, I don't get why you take so long to actually give him a shot to take the job. In '14 Jake blew chunks in the ISU game, and was stinking it up in the Pitt game until he couldn't go in the 2nd half. CJ led the team back to a win, and looked pretty good in the Purdue game. I don't get why he didn't get the nod at that point. Iowa struggled vs UNI and Ball St., lost to ISU, and things looked bleak under JR against Pitt. CJ led them back vs Pitt, and then a convincing win vs Purdue on the road (and don't say it was because they were crappy, well so was Ball St. and ISU and we barely beat one and couldn't beat the other). I think we should have been playing CJ from there on out

What was the most confusing thing to me was then at the end of the season the staff finally did what it should have after the Purdue game. Just name CJ the starter and go from there. I mean it isn't like CJ had a better season in '14 to win that job for '15. It wasn't that he beat out JR in the Spring either. They simply knew they had to pick one at that time for the team, and for those two QB's and they picked CJ. It was a decision that was 8 games too late if you ask me.

You ask some good questions, but unfortunately we will never know how it all 'played out' (unless KF and/orJake write a 'tell all' book after Kirk retires). I will disagree about him looking good in the Purdue game. When we saw him for the first time against Pitt. it was nice knowing it looked like we had a competent back-up, but he did nothing against Purdue to 'win' the starting job. 17-37 with one pick against a very bad Purdue team.....What's funny, is that I thought Sokol looked the best in the spring out of all 3 of them and if he wouldn't have transfered, CJ would have probably been the 3rd string QB. and may have transfered back then. It's a crazy business. I don't get too worked up about it, I just like to give the 'cretins' around here a hard time....

Is someone actually trying to say that JR has a stronger arm than CJ? Is that seriously what someone is trying to say?

So that long pass to Parker meant nothing? I do not know if JR was capable of the throw or not.....at that point in his career he isn't thinking of attempting it.
