Cezar Guerrero Not Coming

IMO, if Cezar really wanted to visit Iowa, he would find a way to do so sooner rather than later. He goes on the Okie St. visit and calls it a 10 and then turns around and cancel's his visit to Iowa the next weekend. I'd say he winds up in Stillwater.

May be that he ends up there. But we know nothing about what caused the cancellation at this point. Give it more than an hour before saying he must not want to visit Iowa.

Also take his calling his visit to OSU a 10/10 with a grain of salt. I mean thats what almost evey single recruit says about every single visit they make. "I really loved the school, the coaches, the facilities. It was a 10/10"- Every recruit

I've been saying for a long time that I'd rather take Eli Carter. I think he's built better for the Big Ten. I'm not knocking Cezar, as I'd be very happy with him as well, but Carter just has seems to have more strength and size to him. Also, the kid can get to the rim.

I would be very surprised if he ever visits Iowa. The next time the man steps foot in our great state it will be with Oklahoma State to take on the Clones.

Or maybe that the game is on Saturday is what made the decision for him? It was only decided in the past week. If it had been on Sunday, maybe he'd have been able to make it.

I'd rather him not see the game saturday...just sayin that the atmosphere hasn't been the greatest...

I'd take Eli Carter over Cezar or Stokes

Storm if you don't mind me asking why is it you would prefer Carter over the other two? I work seven days a week and obviously don't have the time to keep up on some of these recruits so I get on the forums looking for insight from posters like you. Also, what do you think our chances are with Carter?

Apparently it was a school related conflict and he may reschedule. But that would mean not making it in for a game.

Right, because you only find out about school functions four days before your official visit. I've got kids in school, and trust me, they make sure parents/guardians are aware of school functions well in advance.

Sounds like a b.s. excuse, and don't be surprised if Guerrero doesn't make it to Iowa at all.

Thanks for getting our hopes up Cezar!

The last update that Rob Howe put out on twitter in regard to Carter is that he (Carter) was very interested in Iowa still. Take that for what it's worth. As for his game you can youtube multiple videos of Carter. What I see is a kid with a strong build that can take his man to the rim at will and can finish in a variety of ways. He's listed at 6'2 and 175 pounds, but looks to play with good strength. He also has a very nice looking 3 point shot. Seems to have a real good feel for the game. Again, I go back to his build. He looks strong to me. That's my take on him from the video I have seen. Also, I believe he is currently at Brewster Academy, which is a prep school if I'm not mistaken, so he would technically be a year removed from high school. Another plus. Another reason I prefer Carter is that he is from the East Coast. I would love for Fran to get a pipeline going from out there. Basabe, hopefully Carter and then others.

Well, IMO Carter (6'2) is taller by 3-4 than Guerrero (5'11) and Stokes (5'10), and stronger than both. He is more physically developed because he has taken a prep season. He can play both the 1 or 2 spots in college which makes him a more versatile than the other two who would just play point.

Personally I'd like to land Chris Colvin or Darius Smith because I think both are better than Carter, Guerrero and Stokes.

Thanks for the info! Hopefully Fran can reel him in

Damnit! I just composed a MONSTER post about a Brewster Academy game I went to see and I had to step away for awhile came back and the site had logged me out!! So it didn't submitt my post! So in sum, saw Carter play, met coach Francis. Will compose another post tomorrow. SOB!! It was a long one!

+1, I am happy that you are posting on the regular over here now.

Fran needs to get one of these guys soon though to keep some momentum going. The first "big" recruit is by far and away the hardest, but once you get that first one other recruits are more willing to follow. Keep on keepin on Fran et al.

Amazing how this can news can ruin my day, I've never seen the kid, but it sucks to miss again.

I hear you Hawkstrat! I was teetering on whether on not to go to the game this weekend, then I read that Cezar was going to be there and I decided to make a solid YES committent to support the team. Cezar fits into Frans system so perfectly, I was that excited, that I decided to show my support for a potential future Hawkeye.

I probably would have been going this weekend either way, BUT the guy isn't even a Hawkeye and he had an influence on whether I was going to the game or no!

Hopefully he will still commit to a visit and see just how great of a place Iowa City can be...

I can only comment about Eli from what I have been told by other guys who follow recruiting for a living... I have not seen any of his games myself. I've seen some videos, but those don't help a lot.

Cezar is more the true PG than Eli. He takes more risks in his games, but get rewarded more. Eli is at Brewster now, so he is playing against top competition and playing with other D1 recruits, something Cezar is not. Eli has teammates heading to Pitt, Villanova, Kansas, etc... Also, the fact that he is at a prep school is allowing him to develop his game a bit more. Eli is a little taller than Cezar as well, and has more muscle/size too. Eli is more of slasher and can get to the rim, but can also hit the trey at a high %. Also is a better defender from what I have been told. Cezar is a better passer, better ball handler and prob would beat Eli 1-on-1.

I like the complete package of Carter, he just recently started to get serious about basketball so he likely has a higher ceiling as well.

Again, just my opinion based on the opinions of several guys that scout for a living.

Any one of the three would be huge for Iowa.

Personally, I don't know the odds of landing any of them. I've never been good at that game. When Jon Leuer was going to commit, I had word from a coach up in the cities he was coming to Iowa. 15 min later he committed to Wisconsin over the Hawkeyes. So, yeah...
