Carton Ready to Cut It Down to Top 3

DJ's Skills IMO

Athleticism= 5*
Finishing at the rim= 5*
Ball handling= 3*
Passing= 3*
Defense= 3*
Outside shooting= 3*

DJ tends to get careless with the ball, hence his poor assist to turnover ratio.

When I’ve watched him, he loses a lot of assists because the players receiving the passes don’t convert. He’s sometimes forced to take tough shots, which hurts his shooting percentage.

Others not convrrting could be factored by how and when they receive the ball.

I've seen DJ play a couple of times in person and I believe he is going to get better when he has a better supporting cast around him. As long as his *ranking and offers list doesn't go to his head and he decides to start forcing his game into areas it isn't ready to go. I don't think he will be the type of player that will go to a P5 program and take over as a true FR. That's not his skill set, IMO.
I do agree with Rob, in that he is exactly the kind of PG that Fran desperately needs but can't seem to recruit.

fair enough, rob. i've not seen 5* skills from him, particularly ball handling. i've never seen dj play, but i've spoken to a lifelong friend who had a nephew that played for Assumption. my friend watch both JW and DJ the past couple seasons and his assessment is different than yours re: dj. again, you could be right or wrong. right now either one of us could be right or wrong and now it's all left to speculation.

but i would suggest taking a look and noah hutchins, if you haven't, and see what i'm talking about. i think this is the kid that gets an iowa offer soon.

You mean the 3* kid with low-major offers in powerhouses like Canisius, Buffalo, Columbia, and Boston? Who would be compared to what Carton does every single game and it wouldn’t even be fair.

Losing an in-state player to a blue-blood program is one thing. Losing one to a fellow B1G team simply is unacceptable. Fran better figure something out this season, because his deep hole just got lined with more grease.

Iowa is out.
Another Fran fail. I don’t blame Carton for not wanting to play at Iowa. I’d probably want to play for a winner, too.

This could be a decent team if we had a true point guard. But we don’t....and won’t. So it will be more of the same.

In the limited time we saw him Connor seemed like a steadying presence and defense seemed better, but this is another big miss for the program landing a traditional pg. Looks like we'll be combo-guarding it until 2020 at least

Not surprised. We can chalk it up to "Coach's son playing PG" or simply say that Fran can't recruit. Better lock him up for another 10 years, Gutless. Quickly!
