Can Iowa Beat Purdue?

After the UNI and ISU games I changed my expectations for this years team, so I was thrilled with the last 3 games, I fully expect Purdue to wear us down and win by 8-10 points if we win I will be elated, similar to the Insight bowl I expect us to get drilled, sorry but I am not going to drink any Kool-ade till next season.

So because Nebraska beat ISU in a glorified scrimmage you think they will beat Iowa?

Just when I didn't think I could read anything dumber on this board I do.

Using your logic how do you explain Iowa beating Drake, Drake beating ISU and ISU beating Iowa? Can't wait to hear this explanation.

I have to agree that it was pretty dumb.

Thats my point ISU is bottom of Big 12. ISU Pounds Iowa. Nebraska beat ISU in an exhibition game earlier this year.

This.

In the Big Ten I have only totally ruled out beating OSU at Carver.
I have the PU,IU,Wisky,Michigan games at Carver as tough games that we probably will not win,but could.
I have the NW,Neb,Minny, and PSU games at Carver are almost must win to be respectable.
The Purdue game is huge, with many intangibles slanting Hawks way,but yet to be determined if Iowa can overcome the sheer talent factor, with intangibles.
Ryne Smith and Hummel alone could kill us with 3pt shooting. If we can locate them, and keep them guarded out there, and rebound, the Hawks could pull off a huge upset. I do not like their chances in the next 6 games,so really need this one to keep the morale steady thru the stormy weeks ahead.
If Iowa could get thru that stretch at 2-5 somehow(personally,I think Wisky and Michigan are the only other possible wins), they could still have a strong pulse going into those last 12 games vs Big Ten,and maybe get as many as 5-6 of them.. I think anything better than 5-13 in the league would be amazing for this team. The league is just a bit too deep, with a lot of teams(10) that are just a bit better than the Hawks. Only PSU is equal talent-wise.

Home court means allot.

It's really apples to oranges comparing basketball teams by 'who beat who'. I get that. Home court plays a huge factor in it.

How good ISU is has NOTHING to do with my original post.

That doesn't overshadow the main point. Nebraska basketball is and has been 100x better than Iowa over the past few years. Point just being that lost of Iowa fans I know think that Nebraska is a 'win' for them this year. Nebraska is light years ahead of Iowa in basketball.

I really just want to see good bball. If they end up losing, so be it. Nothing frustrates me more than watching them play horrible.

G8! So then they've been to the ncaa tourney quite a bit recently?? How'd they do??

Iowa has a 0.000000000001% chance of beating purdue

Based on what? Purdue hasn't shown themselves to be anything special this year. We certainly aren't good, far from it. But we were far from good on March 6th, too. And Purdue was MUCH better then than they are now.

That doesn't mean we WILL win, but we had about a 0.000000000001% last spring. At home, and with the way Basabe and Marble are playing, I'd give us between 40%-50%.

I'm seriously considering driving down for the game. Late start means I can work most of the day and still make it down.

Maybe it says something about Iowa, when a team that hasnt been to the NCAAs is lightyears ahead.

i want to know how nebby is lightyears ahead because i saw a game of theirs and i wouldnt say iowa is guaranteed a win but nebby isnt better. for my money they are basically even right now. yet iowa has a player who is playing at a level i didnt expect him to reach until at least next year. and it is making everyone else much more deadly. especially gatens because you have to focus on marble which gets gatens open as the #2 scorer like he always should have been.

I'm not sure why people are so hyped up about Purdue. They have a few pieces that can play, like Iowa, but like Iowa they have no big man, that is any good anyway. I have watched quite a bit of Purdue bball the last few years (in laws are alums) and I'm telling you this team is not that much better than Iowa, and not close to last year's Purdue team.

It says absolutely nothing. Ohio State is lightyears ahead. Kentucky is lightyears ahead. But they should be, our program was left in the worst shape in its history. Like it or not, BRO, but Iowa will be more talented than Nebby next year. And the year after. And the year after. Aaaaaaand the year after that.
