BT Football Reorganization

not to change the subject, but is anyone here going to Champagne in October for the Iowa game? I'm 99% sure I'll be at that one.
Most likely will do Illinois and Purdue. Not bad travel from eastern WI. I have done them in the past.

I’d imagine Illinois tickets are basically free, no?

They were the last time I was there. 2008. Norm Parker prevent special. I registered a 0.28 on the portable breathalyzer at freaking halftime. I honestly don't think I'll ever be that drunk again. Made it through dry January and plan on getting through February as well. Hosting a big party on March 5 where I will taste my first booze of 2022.

I have gotten them several times through the I Club. I don’t recall the price but I remember them as being pretty cheap. Ticket prices don’t really impact my decisions. I avoid staying in hotels at game sights and just drive around 20-30 minutes from small communities. I will not pay more than $10-$15 an hour to sleep.

I like your idea. I want to make a minor adjustment. Get rid of Rutgers and Maryland, then play a round Robin.
I don’t mind Maryland, they are typically competitive in basketball and usually not horrible in football. I hated adding Rutgers, who should be in the MAC. But it was all a money grab, Rutgers got the BTN the New York market and Maryland added the DC and Baltimore markets.

But while you’re at it drop Pedo State and send Nebraska back to the B12. Make it the Big TEN again.

Two divisions might as well be 2 different conferences. It’s semantics really.

The truth is people don’t want to get rid of divisions because it would mean Iowa is in 5th-7th place most years. That’s it, pure and simple. Iowa fans want to feel like our team is more elite than it is. 2015 doesn’t even come close to happening in B1G without divisions, and that’s kinda wonky in my opinion. Yes it was fun, but it was a charmin ultra soft schedule that year and we got exposed in the Rose Bowl as far as how good we really were outside our cushy division. Same thing this past year in Indy. It’s been proven since 2012 that winning the west division is a token achievement because the East is always going to win. They have the 2-3 best teams in the conference, so they should.

Regarding fairness, what’s fair is making sure schedules are divided up evenly over a set number of years.

If you go back to no divisions with 14 teams then you are heading toward the Big 3 or 4 and the Little 10 just like before when for years it was the Big 2 and Little 8. That would lead to Iowa only having a chance to win or tie for a title when scheduling happened to not match them up with OSU and maybe the other top team in the league while a couple of those top teams ate each other up with losses. It would align like 2002 where Iowa and OSU did not meet for Iowa to tie for a title.

MLB and the NFL found out how exciting divisions and wildcard teams can make the end of the year by keeping teams in play for the post-season and titles. Does the Big Ten want more teams in play with a couple weeks left in the season or do they want zero divisions and less excitement for fans.

Penn State has been great for The Big Ten. Sandusky and Paterno were pieces of shit no doubt, and while I still think their admin and fanbase can be mocked for supporting Paterno, at some point the sins of the father have to stop affecting future generations.

Penn State brings excellent football, elite wrestling, and average basketball to a P5 conference. There are a ton of P5 schools that can't say any of that.

Good.

I can't help it, I despise them especially their football program. Other sports I try to keep it too PSU and just not use their full name but their football program will forever be Pedo State. It was all I could do to not get mouthy with their fans when they came to Kinnick, I want to ask every single one of them how they can root for a team that allowed something like that to happen. I'm as deep rooted of a Hawkeye fan as they come but if something like that happened at Iowa I'd be done. The Alford/Pierce damn near did me in, that was bad enough.

They don't deserve to have a football program IMO
