Box Score from Today's Game

I don't think you can judge Garza and Nunge's 3 point shooting off one game with a different ball.

Nunge didn't shoot it well in PTL either. I'm a little disappointed in Nunges outside shooting as I thought that was one of his real strengths but his inside game is much better than anticipated.

His outside shot will only get better but since he's not hitting, he needs to be more selective when to shoot the 3 ball.

It was Williams turn to sit.

haha, how many times is this gonna get asked? I bet we're still in line for a few more "why isn't Kreiner playing, that doesn't bode well for the future" posts....

and "If Dailey can't get in a game when they were up that big, how will he ever contribute meaningful minutes" guy.

It's surprising that people are saying it in the same threads that already give the reason.

Lol, you are gonna lecture me on making a way too early judgement about the Hawks? Wow, that reminds me of some of your crappy way to early predictions.

1) Mike was a better eFG% and TS% than Jordan was (said this way too early and Jordan ended up crushing Mike's averages)
2) Moss was a clear miss. This one still
Make me shake my head on how little you must know about basketball to make this claim.
3) Iowa has botttom 4 talent in the B1G
4) Iowa wasn't going to make the NIT
5) Jordan was no way ever going to be 1st team All Fr B1G

Back to Garza and Nung. I'm not judging them solely on one game. They are not going to be effective from 3 this year because I understanding basketball. Neither were big 3 point shooters in HS, and typically that means they won't come in and do it well at the college level immediately.

When I read this I think to myself... "how long are we gonna hang 56 on these"??? and then I think to myself... "yeah probably forever".

I'll just say he's got a long road in front of him to repair his opinion and for it to be taken constructively.

Even if those two guys could shoot it decent this year, we are too good inside and have way too many better options from 3 for Fran to not put the cobosh on them shooting them this year.

They both had reputations of 3 point shooters from when we recruited them

If I even had the slghest thought that he might be an actual Hawk fan (even just a 1% chance he was) I wouldn't remind him of any of that. As it is, those were all trolls he was trying to run, so I will bust his chops on past trolls all day long.

Fran on Luka: "I've always loved what he brings to the table, and that is a post player who can stretch the floor with his 3-point shooting. Very few people at that size have the low-post game and perimeter shooting ability that he has."

Fran on Nunge: "He is an incredible perimeter shooter"

What is your point? Mine is neither will be taking a lot or making a lot of 3 pointers this year, because they simply aren't going to be skilled enough as Fr to do it.

Do you think they will be attempting and making a lot of 3 pointers this year?

I think they are skilled enough to do it. I just think the rest of the team is skilled enough to not justify doing it.

Jok only made 16 - 3 pointers his freshman year.

Uthoff only made 17 as a 3rd year Sophomore.

I guess we can chalk those #'s up to them NOT being good 3 pt shooters.... Or... opportunity, maturity, deferring to better options, development etc.

You said they aren't skilled enough to shoot 3 pointers but Fran raved about their perimeter shooting abilities when they signed. I'm going to trust Fran over some internet troll.

They might not be skilled enough at this stage to be taking and making a lot. Most of all, they won't be relied upon to. Sometimes when a coach speaks, he's speaking about potential as much as he is the immediate future. How is that hard to understand?

That troll said neither were effective 3 point shooters in high school when Nunge shot 43% and Garza shot 36% in AAU.
