Box Score from Today's Game

That troll said neither were effective 3 point shooters in high school when Nunge shot 43% and Garza shot 36% in AAU.

ok... then, I can say that I agree with you in some regards. I feel like both were touted as potential 3 point shooting big men and I think they still are. Things come with development. A part of the game that you typically don't have a lot of concept of. I just don't know that you can expect that out of the gate from either. The shots I saw yesterday were flat out bad, but first game, different ball and all the other factors

Garza and Nunge need to pass on the 3 point shots as of right now, they looked pretty brutal from range yesterday.

They are not going to be effective from 3 this year because I understanding basketball. Neither were big 3 point shooters in HS, and typically that means they won't come in and do it well at the college level immediately.

Liar. I said they weren't big 3 point shooters in high school. Garza had 24 3 pointers compared to 360 2 point FG in 40 HS games. So 6-7% of his baskets were 3 point baskets. Nunge made 95 3 pointers in 73 high school games. Only 18% of his baskets came from 3 pointers.

Now onto proving you are nothing but a troll. You trolled this very thing with Jordan. LOL man you were lecturing us last year that someone who was an ELITE high school 3 point shooter (Jordan and Ellingson) might not be good college 3 points shooters. Yet I say that guys who only occasionally shoot the 3 will struggle from 3 their Fr year only, and you wanna try and troll me on this? Keep in mind I never said they wouldn't ever do it, just their Fr year.

He was a good shooter in high school, doesn't mean he'll be a good shooter at this level. Ellingson put up great shooting numbers in high school and is much bigger than Jordan and he's struggled at this level

Now onto real Hawkeye discussions.

I think Nunge for sure will be a very good 3 point threat in time. Garza who really knows? I mean we haven't had a 5 that stretches the court to the 3 point line really, so we have very little to go on with Fran on this one at Iowa anyway.

I do know that neither is going to be very good from 3 their Fr year. Garza hasn't shot nearly enough over the course of his HS career to justify taking many. Nunge has really struggled with his 3 point shot in the PTL and the Europe PTL game yesterday.

Pretty cool end of the game. Ash was going to run out the clock but the opposing coach and team encouraged him to shoot it and they went nuts when it went in.

Agree... if Garza is ever any kind of a 3 pt threat it will just be an added benefit but I don't expect it to ever be a big part of his game.

Nunge will continue to improve as the coaching staff works with him. How guard like, Kevin Durant like can he be will determine just how special of a player he can become.

When you're 6'11" of course most of your shots aren't going to be 3 pointers when you are going against high school competition. You said Garza and Nunge need to pass on 3 point shots for now because of how they shot one game overseas with a weird ball. You even said they looked brutal shooting them. I guess I'll trust Fran on this one since he spoke very highly of their perimeter shooting ability when they signed instead of some internet troll and bully.

If you follow this program, you know Fran goes a little overboard with complimenting players.

He said yesterday that Garza would get double-doubles every game.

He does it to build them up.

Williams and Dailey didn't get many minutes but Connor Mac played 20 minutes which won't be happening in the regular season.

Freshman get a free pass in my book. They aren't even suppose to be on the floor yet. So to scrutinize them is just looking for something to complain about. Get the experience, make mistakes and learn. And good for you getting playing time as a Freshman.

LOL, internet bully. Poor, poor Cy5656. I didn't start this, you did.

If you trust Fran, that is good to know. I am happy that you have finally come around on Jordan and think he is a high quality PG, just like Fran says he is.

For the most part Garza doesn't even shoot 3's. When 6% of your baskets in HS are 3 pointers, that means you simply aren't ready to then come into college basketball and start chucking 3's. Nunge is for sure better at shooting 3's, but like most Fr needs to work within the offense his first year. Iowa doesn't need him coming in and chucking 3's up all the time, and if he does he will just be disrupting the offense, and taking the ball out of the hand of other better 3 point shooter. Fran knows this, Nunge will learn this, and I will bet you that Nunge averages about 1-2 3 point shots a game, but my guess is it will be closer to 1. Jarod Uthoff (in his 3rd year in college mind you) attempted 40 3 pointers in 33 games that year. I see this as a good jumping off point for Nunge for his Fr. year, about as many as Uthoff took.

Williams and Dailey didn't get many minutes but Connor Mac played 20 minutes which won't be happening in the regular season.

Pretty much every player that played got 20 minutes by design. Williams and Dailey will get almost exactly 20 minutes next game.

I agree on Garza. I don't know how much of a 3 point threat Garza will end up being, but I can imagine him expanding his game to that level by his Jr and Sr years.

Nunge will be a 3 point threat, and a good one IMO. I just realize that as a Fr. it might be better for the team and him to play a little more within himself much like Uthoff did. Something like 30-40 3 point attempts his first year like Jarod, and then 145 attempts his 2nd year and 173 his 3rd year.

Do you have to engage him the whole season, even before the season starts?

JFC Gold, he started it and came after me. Just worry about your own dumb posts. Speaking of, dont you have some drug theory going in another thread you need to get back to?

Ha Ha changing the subject. Nobody....Nobody argues with as many posters as you do as vehemently as you do. You've slowed a bit this summer though. I also know what it is like to have someone start and come after me don't I. You are way to sensitive about being pushed back. Typical bully. Ok, keep it up. Change your world. Make a difference...

On the changed subject, any fool should recognize there was more to the story about rhabdo. Who knows what that story is. Was it Gator aide, moon cycles, or what ever. The drugs I listed are associated with rhabdo and are related to aggressive tendencies. Wouldn't be the first time drugs were used by athletes you think. It's the elephant in the room nobody wants to talk about. Ecstasy in particular is easy to get and easy to leave the system. I do know up close and personal it can make people hyper and aggressive.

By the way, like I've told H Bob. I'm am not diety.

Fran speaks in hyperbole. It's a fact. Whatever he's doing he should keep doing it because he's creating great results.

You seem obsessed with me. You aren't even replying to the THREAD, you are commenting about ME. Do I need a restraining order here, your obsession is getting creepy.

Cy5656 can do what he wants, he decided to flame me on this, I'm sure he knew what was gonna come back his way.

As far as arguing with posters, it seems to me you have several ongoing arguments, I don't. You seem to want to make our arguement perpetual, I simply ignore you (unless you come at me like this).

Lol at your drug rants. You have this self importance about you, but I don't read or take seriously anything you are ranting about. The funny thing is you come off as a crazy person, not an intellectual as you think.

You are hilarious. You changed the subject. I don't have ongoing arguments. I have posted and counter posted to the rhabdo comments and will concede none of really know anything of what happened.

You have an obsession with arguing. And I don't rant.

Yes, there is one person who really bothered me here. I don't like bullies. When you do it, I sometimes respond. You do it so often that if I only respond to a small percentage, it seems large.

Just stop picking fights.

Hawk 22 is another case. He goes after players (which he shouldn't) and the best way of handling him is to ignore.
You go after posters who disagree. You do it too much. Nothing wrong if you want to argue every point. Even argue obscure points, that is what this is about. To engage an idiot at his level is what is annoying. You sound like Trump and Kim Jong Un
