Boise St in B10 ... .500 record?

I think last year they were ranked pretty accurately. These were the final rankings pre-bowl

1Alabama13-0
2Texas13-0
3Cincinnati12-0
4TCU12-0
5Florida12-1
6Boise State13-0

There were no other 1 loss teams.

I'm not saying they aren't good but they don't deserve to be ahead of a 1 loss team from the Big 10 or SEC and definitely don't deserve to jump any other unbeatens.

That's crap. If they are undefeated (for the 3rd straight year), they deserve to play over a 1-loss team. They deserve the chance to prove themselves. You guys are in the "if you're not in the Big 6, you ain't playin' for it all" camp. Nevermind that the Big East blows absolute donkey d***, or that the ACC hasn't been far behind. These schools have done what they can to prove themselves. There's not really anything else they can do, and you say what they've done isn't good enough. That's not even close to fair, and it's that sort of thinking that's going to get the BCS into trouble.

Advertising what people are talking about is not a good strategy? Yikes, this whole thread makes my head hurt.

Advertising for Boise state, Michigan, Ohio State team gear on an Iowa message board.

at this point i think you are just disagreeing to disagree.

1) It's only this year the fact that they have had 2 undefeated seasons in a row means nothing
2) I said they should be behind a 1 loss team from the Big 10 or SEC, and possibly big 12 (depending on the team, who they beat/lost to etc)
3) Your "the BCS is going to get sued" argument is ridiculous.

you think they should be rated above Florida in last years example?

It's hard to say if Boise State is any good because they only play 1 good team a year and it is the first game of the season (i.e., a team changes a lot between September and January). And when you only have 1 game to really play for during a season, I think you'll play your best ball for that game (which is why I think Boise State snuck by Oregon last year). It sucked that Boise State played TCU last year because nobody really knew how good TCU was either.

I hope that this year, VT kicks Boise State in the teeth on day 1 and we don't have to think about Boise for the rest of 2010. Bottom line is if you're not playing and beating the big boys on a regular basis during a season, you don't deserve to make it to the big game at the end of the season.

I've got a very good friend who is a big fan of Boise State's due to the fact that the running back that started during their win vs Oklahoma (forget his name at the moment) a few years ago is his wife's nephew. This guy's also a clown fan (not really sure why he's a friend ). Anywho, we've had this very conversation several years ago and his logic is that since they beat Oklahoma they could win the Big10 more often than not.
My argument was that they play a weak schedule (to put it mildly) and are not nearly deep enough to withstand a full Big10 schedule without losing some of their starters resulting in a MAC-like team in appearance. Scheduling would be ultimately important to a team like that. They would need to play teams like Iowa, Wisky, OSU etc who tend to beat up even healthy teams very early in their schedule to have a chance to finish well. Play those teams late and they'd be lucky to even field a team for a bowl.

I think that if they run the table this year, then they will have done all they can to prove themselves. If there are more than 2 undefeated teams, they will get left out, and that's okay. But if they are 12-0 (with wins over VT and Oregon State), and get jumped by a 1-loss team, there's going to be a s***storm coming out of Boise. Because the BCS is still "Big 6 or bust". Teams like Utah, BSU, TCU have little to no shot of playing for the title, no matter how well they do, simply because of their conference affiliation. If that doesn't fall under anti-trust laws, I'm Mickey Mouse.

Which puts the BCS in a bad place. You can't make a national championship exclusive to 6 conferences. Just because the best teams historically come from there doesn't make it okay to shut everyone else out.

We've both made out points, i feel like it's pointless to continue to go round and round, it'll be interesting to see how things shape up.

Cheers.

I don't think Boise gets past both Virginia Tech and Oregon St this year so hopefully we won't have to hear any national title talk. They can then run the table in their crappy conference and hopefully get another shot at a major team in a bowl game.

It would suprise me if they were undefeated after September.

I think it's obvious that their success can be attributed to Jesus Christ being a Mormon and being angry with the rest of us for not converting. That is why they shouldn't be allowed to compete in the NC game, because their opponent would likely be a state run university and that would violate the seperation of church and state.
