Boise St in B10 ... .500 record?

Yep, with losses to BC, East Carolina, Louisville and TCU. Not exactly a murderers' row of opponents either.
Saying they couldn't compete in the Big 10 now based on losing 4 bowl games by a combined 14 points to solid teams is downright idiotic. It's also terribly convenient for your argument that you didn't mention they won the 4 bowl games before that by a combined 39 points.

I didn't say they couldn't compete. They would be right around .500 in conference. How is it idiotic to base my argument on bowl games over a six year period? It's no more idiotic than people basing their argument on beating Oregon the first game of the season, or beating Oklahoma by one in OT on a trick play. When they play tougher competition they have lost close games, that's what happens in any BCS conference. Ohio St loses to a Purdue or Florida loses at home to Ole Miss. Playing quality opponents week in and week out is a lot different than one non conference game and a bowl game.

you're using an argument to validate your point that was earlier used as a downside for boise. saying they have a month to prep for a bowl game was used against them, but now you're using their losses in bowl games against them

its really not fair

The fact is that last year's (and very likely this year's) Boise State team is as good as if not better than any team in the Big Ten or any other conference. Whether they're playing Fresno State and Hawaii or Indiana and Illinois is irrelevant. They are a really, really good football team.

They are as good as any team in the B10?

Bullcrap ....

Boise would finish middle of the pack this year

No way in hell they don't have at least 2 confc losses playing in the B10

AC and company would destroy that front line and so would OSU and if
you think not you are delusional

Everyone has a month to prepare for a bowl game. How is that argument used against Boise? They do have an advantage where they can spend all summer getting ready for one non conference game where as a team that plays a schedule full of tough oppenents can't do that, but in bowl season they have the same advantage as every other team.

They just have a very small sample size of games against quality opponents, and bowl games are a large part of that sample. And their record in those games, really isn't all the impressive.

And as we all know, you don't need to prepare for games against WAC teams. Give me a break.

Not like you do against SEC teams, or B12 teams or B10 teams or Pac 10 teams, no.

Do you think Iowa spends a lot of time game planning for Ball St? This is the equivilant of most of the teams in that conference. With the exception of Fresno and Nevada, most of that conference is terrible.

No way in hell

Purdue with that stud qb puts up at least 40 on their defv

AC and BB would maul that offv line .....

Boise- NICE PGM

Boise - REALITY CHECK vs our confc on a weekly basis

Boise state was the only team in the conference to finish last season in the top 49 (I think Fresno st was 50)

What happened 5 years ago doesn't really matter anymore. Are ANY of the players who actually played for BSU in 2005 still playing? No. It's an entirely new group of players. This team is better than the one in 2005, and remember that Georgia was actually a contender in the SEC when the SEC really was the gauntlet they still claim it to be.

All that matters is that Boise State can play with and beat anyone THIS YEAR. They've done all they can to prove they deserve a shot. I swear most people give them ridiculous benchmarks. It's like they would have to beat Alabama, Ohio State, Forida, and Texas in their OOC schedule to even come close to satisfying everyone. And since we know there is no way that schedule gets put together, what are they supposed to do?

You're right, and beating Va tech, Oregon state and a bunch of less than average teams puts them in about the 10-15 range.

I think last year they were ranked pretty accurately. These were the final rankings pre-bowl

1Alabama13-0
2Texas13-0
3Cincinnati12-0
4TCU12-0
5Florida12-1
6Boise State13-0

There were no other 1 loss teams.

I'm not saying they aren't good but they don't deserve to be ahead of a 1 loss team from the Big 10 or SEC and definitely don't deserve to jump any other unbeatens.
