Bohannon and jok lost that one

Any time a player breaks a school record, it's cool, PC would admit this. PC would also admit that Mike G was a solid player, not great, solid. He had good games, a few great games, but overall was just a good player, good leader, good defender, decent shooter, good athlete. He did benefit from being surrounded by veteran scorers and pretty good defenders most of his career. And like other players who break records, longevity and span of career plays a big role.

Would you agree that Bohanon's defense would appear better if he was on a team that had 2-3 other really good defenders.

But that's not really the point, is it 5656?

He completely discredited him breaking a school record and said it was unimpressive. I think Bohannon will always be a liability on defense because of his size and limited athleticism.

I remember last year a poster I liked a lot (whose name i think was maybe HawkeyeMike23 but not for sure) was always ripping on Gesell. I defended him like crazy up until his career was over. Mike had the potential to be one of the all time greats at Iowa but for whatever reason never lived up to his potential by a long shot.

Now that his career is over and he has no more chances to regain his confidence and be great, it's safe to say Mike was a pretty good player who never lived up to his potential to be great. I don't think Bohannon has the ceiling Mike had, but until he loses all confidence in his shot, I stand by my original statement that replacing "pretty good" isn't that hard to do.

Yeah, we all know what you think. How the F*ck could anyone avoid reading what you think.

Bohannon may very well never be a great defender, but it's something he can improve upon. Regardless, his offense may more than make up for it. You know how I know that, I what the games, hear the analysts.

Bohannon, barring injury, will likely Shatter the assist record.

I hope they recruit over him and he doesn't break the assist record. I think the future could be really bright with a play making PG who can create for others

oh man, HawkeyeMike23 really did not like Mike G.....at all.

And you would be correct on the above. And I liked Gessell.

Well, and that's the difference between us, I would prefer JBo continues to improve, while the rest of the very young team does as well, and become a great PG.

I think the future could be really bright with the kid who is currently our PG.

If we get a stud PG recruit that can jump him at PG, fine, JBo can move to a #2. I don't think that kid is on the recruiting list right now though.

Oh, and I still think JBo gets the assist record, even if he plays the #2 his Junior and/or Senior year....let that marinate a little.

So, there we are.

I'd rather recruit over him because I don't think he'll ever be a plus defender and I think his ceiling is pretty low. I want him to improve but with him running the show I don't see us ever winning a conference title and I think that should be the goal with this group before they leave

I hope they recruit over Cook, Pemsl, and Moss too.

That would be ideal but the PG is the weakest position on the team right now

But if we recruit over him at point guard, a different position would then be the weakest position. I think that's why Fran brought in Garza (who is a 4 star on rivals now by the way) to recruit over Cook or Pemsl because he thinks they suck.

Fran already tried to recruit over Bohannon with Moore and Vital and missed

Nobody, Dailey was best available after he couldn't find a PG and Kriener committed early on

So Fran wanted another point guard and he wanted a better one than the one he currently had? Makes sense. I was thinking Fran goes out and tries to find worse players than the ones he has. Thanks for clearing that up Captain Obvious.

Obviously he knows he needs to upgrade the PG position if he wants to do big things. There's a reason he went after Moore a second time and put a lot of effort into Vital

There's a reason every coach goes after every player they offer. They want the best possible roster they can get. Fran is constantly trying to upgrade every single position on the roster every single year, so why point out just this one time?

Right now, Fran is hoping Garza and Nunge are upgrades over Cook and Pemsl. Does that mean he thinks poorly of Cook and Pemsl? Or is he just always trying to bring in more talent?

Will since discrediting a record holder is off limits, what will you do when Jordan breaks the Iowa all time Fr. Assist record? Jordan only needs 7 more assist to tie Mike Gesell's Fr assist total, then he will have to pass some real all time greats at PG for Iowa after that.

Well PC says their unimpressive assists so I'm not sure what to think

Fran is a former PG, he knows it's the most important position on the floor. When your PG isn't one of your 5 best players it's not good
