Biggest Iowan Sports Accomplishments

Chow has been an official resident of Iowa for 21 years.

As Sanders was only an out-of-state student at the university, he was never a resident of Iowa.

Not sure on Gabby's residency. I would assume she wouldn't be considered a resident of our state.

Has anyone mentioned Nick Collison?

If Barnes has a succesful NBA career he will be in the discussion as best athlete from Iowa. People had unrealistic expectations for him in college.

fail
kid was a bust at NC; had nothing to do with "unrealistic expectations"
he simply disappeared when his team needed him the most, time and time again

There's a certain expectation that comes along with being the top recruit out of high school. Barnes did not live up to those expectations, and they weren't unrealistic for the top recruit in the country.

Now, he could go and have a stellar NBA career, but the facts are still that he didn't live up to what people expect out of the top recruit in the country.

17 points a game doesn't equal a bust. He didn't live up to the hype of having his college selection nationally televised. They treated him like the next Lebron James and he will never be that. He will have a solid NBA career but you are right he doesn't belong on the list.

BTW...how can anyone not have Feller at the top?

Pretty sure that being a Jayhawk negates any and all things positive...

that's all you really needed to post, Bunyan

But it is really really difficult for me to write that. I would rather be kicked in the junk that write that statement. It hurts. But you were correct this once. ouch.

What's on tap for the weekend? Taking the kids out to Napa to learn about wine? :D

kind of. I rent them out during the summer to some of the Napa Vineyards. Supposedly, their little feet don't bruise the grapes as much as grown adults feet and produce a sweeter juice for the vino. They are spending the weekend stomping grapes so the 1% can get only the best wine.

Either that or we are going to a science center followed by an A's game.
