Biggest Game in Years...and Apathy?

I agree.

Ideally, Iowa needs to get a nice lead and force Wisconsin to pass. THEN Iowa can go ball control in the 4th quarter. But Kirk will likely try to play ball control right from the start.....and the Hawks just will not be able to out-muscle Wisconsin.

I see a typical Iowa game unfolding. We get the ball first. We score a touchdown. We hold WUs on their first possession. We get the ball back and kick a FG. We go up 2 scores, kfootbll then elects to try and run out the clock for the next 3+ quarters, we lose momentum and WUs eventually wins going away. We'll score a touchdown when WUs is in prevent D.

We've seen this way to many times. If JR plays (of course he will) this will be Iowa's game plan. The REASON JR starts, in my opinion, is because JR fits kfootballs gameplan.

This thread is representative why I don't post, despite my excitement for the game. Everyone around here is an ******* who thinks Kirk is a moron. There is no point.

Go Hawks!

Yet, here you are posting. You decided to give me a thumbs down for the describing the last 16 years of football at Iowa. All you high and mighty types that think that if you root for Iowa, no matter what, never make an observation that is critical and never second guess years of evidence, you'll sometime wind up in "Hawkeye Heaven" and the critics won't, are laughable. Do you really think the folks that are on messages boards, who are critical, are not fans? The Iowa fan base has, in a large way, lost confidence in our head coach. Our coaches nickname is not "Big Game Kirk" for good reason. I hope to hell that I am wrong. But, the evidence of the past 16 seasons points to me being closer to right than wrong. That isn't my fault. Whose would it be?

No. We think he's stubborn. He pretends to be a moron when he says things like that he doesn't know what they did to beat us. He acts like a moron when he says two good qbs and doesn't use the one with the liver arm and opts for the one that checks down all the time

This is a game where adjustments MUST be made (and we have evidence they will not be). We cannot have 9 straight 3&Outs. I think if we even get to TWO, it's time to switch QBs, RBs etc

This game isn't about fans that aren't rooting for Iowa to win. Every Iowa fan is. But when Vegas has you a double digit dog at home, in a game with this much importance, that is saying a lot.

Now, if Iowa is the aggressor, then I am confident we win. Iowa's BEST offense is when we are aggressive and when we use CJ. How many folks think this is the Iowa offense we'll see today?

While this season has been maddening to watch, Iowa is still in the hunt for the division title this late in the year. Something we haven't been a part of in FIVE years (2009 doesn't seem THAT long ago).

But around here, there's very little talk of the game, scheme, players....anything. Is this a result of a fanbase that's just tired of the program? A cautious wait and see approach? The game prediction thread seemed to slant towards Iowa winning this game, yet the boards aren't really full of optimism or chatter.

While I can't say I'm "excited" for this game, I am definitely intrigued to see what happens. In the prediction thread, I have WI scoring more than 50 points against us, while we squirm for maybe 20. Yet despite thinking we're going to get pounded, I'm more anxious to watch this game than any other for a while. Guess it's the last bit of hope the team can turn things around. I do not share Deace's reasoning that everything is going for Iowa in this game. We have shown far too few glimpses of promise, and WI, albeit coming off a big game, is peaking at the right time (something we as fans claim Iowa does, despite the evidence stating otherwise).

See what happens in 22 hours....

Wait...there's a game today?

I'd be more optimistic if this team wasn't bi-polar.
Exactly. There is hope for a victory but little reason to be optimistic for a victory.

There's no euphoria in flipping a coin.

Starts slowly to raise hand,
looks around
and sees no ones' hand moving,
then slowly lowers hand
with embarassing hope no one else saw hand move.

But yet you posted today, yesterday 11/20, 11/19, 11/18, 11/17, wait forget it after further review you practically post everyday in HN. Nevermind carry on with posting.. :)

I 100% blame the Minnesota game.

i can't let myself get excited when I respect the Wiscy runni game and Gordon much more than the Gophers and we couldn't slow them down at all.

Granted we won't play as bad as we did that day, but this just isn't the typical Iowa D that is good at stopping the run.

Arvada, Im just not sure that the message boards are a good representive of the Iowa Fan Base. That could be where you two disagree

I am ready to smash the bad-gers and that scum bag running back they have. I am ready to see him take so many hard hits that he can no longer run! I would suit up and and pile on myself if I could.

LASBUR, I didn't say they were. There is no way to know one way or the other.

The Iowa fans I know, and the ones I run into, are no longer confident in our coach. I haven't spoken to an Iowa fan in a long, long time that is still confident in coach. I used a message board to make a statement and a point; I didn't use message boards as a barometer to back up my statement.
