I'm gonna do a series of o/u polls in the preseason (provided people have interest). It should spark some interesting discussion. I'm going to keep track and at the end of this the person with the best record is going to get a special prize (prolly something I ganked out of JD's garbage) Let's just start with the big one, total wins.

I'm going to set the number at 16.5 so we don't end up with any Deace rules tie=win arguments.

I see 17+ wins for this team. I think the win at least 10 (and probably 11 in the Big 10 pre-season schedule, and I think 6-12 is highly possible in the B10. I think 15 or 16 is probably the floor, and if we can pull an upset or two both early and late we might be able to sniff 19 or 20.

Come on Duff. If you are going to have a gambling related poll, at least do it right. You find a number, and then say 'over this number' and 'under this number...but the number is the same.

;)

Based on 16.5, I will say over. Given that our non-conference schedule is pretty manageable and nearly the entire team is coming back, I would expect improvement, and not just because the schedule is easier. I fully expect individual players to be better than they were a year ago, which should hopefully make for a better team.

I guess if you assume that nobody on the team has improved their game, and that the newcomers will all be worthless, then I'd expect another season about like last year or maybe just marginally better, but barring injury, I think we'll have a considerably better team this year than a year ago.

Guess I'm thinking about 17-18 wins.

Waddya mean, the number is 16.5. Lots of O/U's use half numbers to avoid ties.

BTW are you having any cleaning out the garage/basement/attic days? I'd like the prize to be snazzy, even if it is from your garbage.

I'll take the over. I may be a kool-aid drinker, but I am thinking 17 or 18 wins, with some very close losses that could go either way to get us closer to 20. I hope I am right, I am really looking forward to basketball season.

I'm gonna go over but just barely. Our non-con schedule is embarrassingly weak.
Doesn't feel like an 18 win team but given the schedule, I'll go with it.

Over easy. If we were as good as we were at the end of the year for the entire year we would have won 16 games last year. i think with another year in fran's system, our incoming recruits, all the other teams losing the players they did, and our extremely soft schedule we can find one more win. Ill go with 19

I went under but think 16 is the magic number.

How 'bout this challenge:

Will the bball team have a higher W-L % than football?
-- 5-7 = 41.7%, which equates to 14 wins over 32 games (including round-1 of btt.)
-- 6-7 = 46.2%, which equates to 15 wins
-- 7-6 = 53.8%, which equates to 17 wins.

I'm on the over. 19 wins, maybe more, but I won't go there until I see a game or two.

16.5 IS the number. I am going with under. However, this is because I expect the team to have an injury they cannot overcome.
