BASEBALL!

6-3 W/L with game at Minnesota on Sunday.

Hitting HRs, grinding ABs, good SP --- shore up bullpen & team looks to be decent.

Early season RPI of 13.

Now 7-4. Beat N.Ill today 12-8 after Sunday tough loss to Minnesota.

This team is scoring runs and can pound the ball. Looking like could be a fun season!

Hawks dealing with some major pitching injuries. Cal Eldred's boy is out for the year now will need TJ Surgery I believe. Guys are hitting the ball, need to find some pitching.

Had to have that at home against another team hovering a few games over 500.

Rest of season Iowa has only one series with top tier conference opponent in Michigan State and another plus500 in Nebraska. The other 5 series are against teams with the 5 worst overall records in the Big10.

Top 5-6 finish is very doable. Conference tourney is a must.

Nice sweep of UNLV this weekend! Hawks move to 17-9 on the year which is dang good after losing some of our best pitching to injury too!

Good to see the guys won over a somewhat quality sdsu team. NCAAs are possibly this year if they keep winning the series they are supposed to. RPI is hovering in the 60s right now.

After drubbing NW 14-2 in Friday's game, the Hawks drop the next two 7-5 and 6-5 against one of the weakest teams in the big ten.

That can't happen

Huge series at Nebraska.

Read a Husker site that mocked Iowa's record because of the caliber of mid-week opponents and Iowa's difficulty in putting lesser opponents away.

Might be some truth to that but it's baseball.

By the way, I despise Nebraska.

Game 1

Iowa 7
Nebraska 6

Iowa hit three homeruns and gave up three runs to the Huskers with three consecutive bases loaded walks by staff ace Gallagher.

Clutch two out hit in 10th by the Hawks Boe was game winning hit.

Easter Day game on BTN at 2pm

Hawks win 5-3 to take series at Nebraska.
Looking for sweep on Easter!

Nebraska announcers were just stunned that Huskers have dropped two to the Hawks.

Hawks 5-3 in Big10 play.
Huskers 4-3-1.

So last game is huge to stay ahead of Huskers and a sweep wouldn't allow Nebraska to feel good about themselves heading into next weekend's series against conference leader Minnesota (7-1)

2 things I didn't realize about Big Ten baseball...

- You only play 8 teams in your conference during the regular conference season. So there are 3 teams you don't even play? Looks like currently Minnesota, Maryland and Michigan are the top 3 teams in the big ten, and Iowa doesn't even get a 3 game series against any of them. Kinda odd

- Wisconsin doesn't have a baseball team?
