Whose fans made Bo Schembechler cry like a bitch when Jim Harbaugh couldn't hear the snap count? Where did Danan Hughes make a snow angel? Who delivered the crushing blow to Jim Harbaugh's playoff hopes in 2016? Where did all this take place?!

On a different theme regarding Harbaugh's not hearing because of crowd noise, Brent Musberger said something like "In a game of this importance, the officials should give the visitors a time-out." The officials stopped the game 2 or 3 times for Harbaugh. (Iowa was also robbed of an obvious touchdown. Again.) Yet, on a game later that year, just as important, at Ohio State (Iowa was still number 1) the Iowa tackles couldn't even hear the snap count because of crowd noise (and pouring rain). Chuck Long begged the officials several times for the crowd noise rule, but the officials just stood there, playing dumb, with their thumbs up their hind ends and did nothing. I think this was the game where the Ohio coach and players waved towels over their heads to excite the idiot fans to make even more noise. I remember Jim Zabel saying the coffee cups in the press box were rattling. After the game Hayden Fry said if this ever happens again he will take his team and walk off the field.

Yep, Hayden was pissed after that game. The wrong shoes worn by players, Long forcing throws, and an uninspired attitude on both sides of the ball certainly didn't help, but, having been at the Michigan game, I was shocked at what O$U and fans were able to get away with in terms of crowd noise/behavior.

He was pissed most of that next week as well. Illinois was the next opponent. Tough draw. Iowa curbed stomped them 59-0 and that was with Robert Smith, who already had two long (and Long) TD receptions, going down with a high ankle sprain late in the first quarter.

Yeah, poor Illini. One of their players was HS classmate of my brother. He badly wanted an Iowa offer but never got one.

Hayden, and the players who were on the 1983 team, didn't forget Illinois 33-0 win over the Hawkeyes, or how they did it. When Iowa was driving late, coach Mike White rushed the first string defense back on the field to preserve the shutout. Hayden did run up scores. But an Illinois player accusing Hayden of running up the score would be like the pot calling the kettle black. Meanwhile their defensive backs were flapping their gums and playing chippy, most notably when Kevin Harmon got a ride out of bounds and into the third row of the stands.

Rutgers was boring no doubt, but in my opinion NW is still miles worse.

Ryan Field, Dyche Stadium. No matter how you name it, it comes up shitty. High school stadiums in Texas are far better than that shambolic mess.

Fryowa is correct. As biased as we all are, we have to bite the bullet and accept the fact that Penn State's night games are epic. Nothing else in the B1G even comes close. #8 ranking is a joke.

That said, all bias aside, I do think Kinnick is top 2 or 3. Our night game atmosphere is outstanding, and the wave and recent renovations are big fan experience improvements. Plus, we are routinely ranked by players as the most difficult road games for opponents.

Madison is an outstanding college town, but, the stadium itself is overrated. That field looks like it came out of the Uni-Dome circa 1989.

After the top 4 or so, it's basically a wash.

I think a stadium should be judged by how intense the fan experience is, and how close you can get to the action. Kinnick is fantastic for that.

I lived in Madison for 15 years and agree with you. The stadium is cool but it bows way out and a lot of the seats are actually pretty damn far from the field. Try sitting in the corner of the upper deck. There are no seats in kinnick that crappy.

Northwestern has a horrible stadium. Marvelous school. Horrible stadium.
