Are ISU fans on the ledges of tall buildings?

So you are suggesting that it's unrealistic that Burton average about 3 more rpg to about match what hogue did?

What makes you think that Burton will add 3 RPG to his career totals? Hogue was an undersized rebounding machine as he had that bit of a dirty/mean streak in him. Burton hasn't shown that rebounding skill yet, what makes you think he will just start picking up extra rebounds right and left?

This is the thing though Bryce... No one here is saying ISU won't have a good basketball team. I'm certainly not saying that. I think they'll be a damn good team. However, I think it's convenient that you brought up last year's results and paraded it like it would be another fantastic season if they simply repeat those results. It's convenient because it basically proves what a lot of us are saying to be correct.

ISU fans will not be satisfied with another season like last year. They've set the bar much higher than that. That's why we're saying what we're saying. This team isn't going to be a Final Four team. This team isn't going to be a Top 5 team. On paper, there is nothing to suggest to me that this team will be any better than last year's team. In order to be a legit Top 5/Final Four challenger they will have to learn how to consistently play defense and get tough on the glass. They'll be able to score. No doubt about that, but Top 5 teams don't have weaknesses in the defense and rebounding categories. They don't take nights off there. If the Cyclones can prove to make strides in those areas then maybe they'll be able to live up to the fans expectations, but I see nothing to believe that's going to happen.

Well said. This team is gonna be like last years for ISU. Nice team, probably a #15-#25 ranked team, but once again they will have the same issues as last year. I really don't see them getting out of the 1st weekend in the NCAA's, just like last year.

The funny thing is Bryce and others act like last year was something for the record books. I mean they couldn't beat a down Kansas for the Big12 title, so I don't see how they unseat them this year either. Larry did that twice for ISU, and I don't see any Natty Light posters of him in the DM rag.

Much, much better than Otz. If I were a ISU fan, I could at least back away from the ledge now. I thought for sure JP was gonna just hire the Otz'er for sure.

Those fans deserve to be pushed off the ledge. I'd like to help.

Haha, I think Chrissey Williams is realizing that he was being played for a dope with the "leaks" he was getting about Hornacek....he doesn't even get the scoop on the real hire and is still trying to "confirm" the hire.

@ChrisMWilliams: FWIW: ISU has yet to confirm Prohm hire to me. Doesn’t mean Prohm isn’t the guy. Expect release at some point, per @MurphyKeith

LOL they use him as a mouthpiece whenever they want to leak something and can't even help him out by giving him the scoop on the hiring. He is truly their ***** and he's too dumb to realize it.

I wonder if Chrissey's sources have managed to confirm the Prohm hiring yet?

4.9 rpg is a rebounding machine?

So you are gonna completly ignore his 8+ RPG? But yeah, compared to Burton Hogue is a rebounding machine.

So you have still yet to explain how a guy is going to go from 2 RPG to 5 RPG, why will that happen??

No, it's just not relevant. Last year is the comparison to next year because the only thing changing is hogue. I wouldn't expect hogue to average any more rebounds next year than he did last year were he to be back.

I think he'll average more due to more minutes, style of play, and a better mental situation for him.

Why is he "mental situation" better? He just lost a head coach that he transfered to play for, and lost a year of eligibility in doing so as well.

Holy **** hahaha

So you wouldn't expect Hogue to average any more rebounds next year were he to be back, but you expect Burton to replace Hogue's production even though he's never averaged that kind of production so far in his career?

Not to mention Burton is smaller than Hogue. Burton is a guard so he won't be as close to the basket. I mean let's just forget all of that right? Bryce, Bryce, Bryce... you're talking out of the wrong hole in this thread my man. Basically the only thing you're basing your argument on is hope. Let's just be honest. Enough of the BS about "mental situations". You have hope that the Cyclones won't be any worse in the rebounding category next year. That's what it comes down to.

Hogue and Burton will play the exact same position.

I don't think they will be much worse if at all next year, and I think there is very good reason.

He and Woj did not get along at Marquette. That isn't a secret, the guy transferred a semester into it. I think he will still be in a better situation at isu.

Burton will average at least 4-5 rpg next year. If I'm wrong I'm wrong, but let's be honest that's not a ton of rebounds when the guy will likely average 25 mpg and they will need him to get rebounds.

Yeah, I mean Burton will get along with Prohm perfectly. I mean it isn't like he came to ISU for a different head coach and then gets stuck with a new coach like what happened with WoJo at Marquette....

If you are so confident, let's make a $20 bet that Burton doesn't avg Hogue type RPG numbers. I'm flush with cash from my $20 bet with jacktronic that Hoiberg would be gone in 14 months (only took a month or so)

I don't bet money on message boards, no offense dean I know you'd be good for it. Anything else I'd be willing to bet, the standard stuff like sigs etc. Set the over/under at 4.9, hogues #'s from last year
