Not the same thing, although one of these seasons does lighten the bandwagon, for sure.
Unfortunately, more often than not this is what happens when hopes get raised about Iowa football.

I have been a Hawk fan my whole life that's a bandwagon I will never jump off.
Being realistic...the Hawks will not show us anything until they walk the walk. We saw KF run a lot of different things in the early fall, but a lot of it disappeared or was poorly executed in B1G play. You just watch a team play themselves the team that went 4-8 last year! Wide receivers got separation, QBs were on target, and D stopped the run better….against a team that lost to Central Michigan (then again they did have a 1st rounder).
With that said please pass what you are drinking I would like some.

I just wanted to say I quoted War and Peace on a message board.I figured we would be improved, how much it adds up in the w/l is almost all on the O. That said let's recap on what I complained about the most last year. I am a D guy, so that is where I will look. The dl seems much improved, teams are going to have to have experienced, big ol's to go up the gut. With some more hard work, we are going to see some on the dl command doubles and that is always a good thing. Not there yet, but like I said if they put the work in, we will be ok. Backers, I complained last year that they need to get up into the gap. I realize your feet are a yard deep in the end zone, but when you slide over to the gap and see the ball carrier who is still at the 5, you have to get up in that hole. I am not sure if the backers feet ever even came out of the end zone. Poor tackling on that play as well, but goal line, you HAVE to get up in that hole. Last year we improved on our side to side and it has continued and we played that very well. The dl, lb's and cb's are playing the perimeter several times better than the start of last season. Cb's and safeties overall had a good day, I did see some big cushions, which if we have to give up that much against our "not fast" wr's, what is the cushion going to have to be if we play a team with a couple of blazers? They could jam a little better, but it was not like they were caught out of position very often. There were flashes, but just like the up the gut run and the lb's, the read and react could use some improvement. Once you have a line on the ball, you have to pick your line and move forward. Stay fluid, but that does not mean so much dancing side to side. #25 did a very good job shortly before the half, he read it and got up there to keep it from being a 1st down. I think the scoring system was a little off, but overall both sides did what they were supposed to and that is showing what has improved and what still needs a little work. As for a bandwagon, well with who we play this year, the kids better stay just as hungry all summer as they were when they got their faces rubbed in dog doo last year. People always say we are a 7-8 win program and I am of the mind set that while that may be true, there is no reason to settle for that, we should continue to try and be a 8-9 if we are currently a 7-8.
What attitude issues are you referring to? Are you talking about KF being stubborn?

Yeah, I'm too lazy to read all that.
Abbreviated: Still have some of the same problems as last year. Run support, not stepping up into the gap (allowed td on goal line). As HGF said, DB's need to get head around more. Line looks much improved. Seems we have gained some speed or know how on the defending of the edges. Some nice plays made but need to be more consistent. Hope players carry the drive and "hungry" part all the way thru summer. Is that short enough?
I don't worry about it to much. I just call it like I see it. I was hoping after hearing they were trying to play more aggressive, that would start with getting up into the gap. Like I said the edges have come a very long way since the start of last year, so that is good. It is to bad Law was not a little bigger, he has that shoot the gap and "pop" like some of the lb's of the past. If you see a gap, that is what their OL is trying to do and the runner sees it also and that is the line he is going to take. You can take a 6 yard run and turn it into a 3 or 4 and that could be the difference maker in a 3 and out.Dont let them give you any crap olddude
