He was dominant today! This was one of the best running performances I've seen in a long time. He was running over and around everyone on the field. He broke a couple of long ones too. He opened up the game for passing too on the play action passes. He should have also had a touchdown rather than a fumble on that play on the goal line if it had been reviewed. The ball did break the goal line before the fumble. Iowa scored anyways, but still he is going for a record and I hate to see one taken away from him. Let's keep it going Mark Wesiman 4 more wins let's do this!
Yes, the one where MW had the separation on both defenders at the 17 yard line and was caught from behind at the 8 yard line. If your rb cannot out run the defense in that situation, it is due to a clear lack of acceleration and speed.
Actually on that play, Weisman broke a tackle by one defender and had to re-accelerate, meanwhile the two defenders that "caught" Weisman had the angle and were running full speed.
Sure the Hebrew Hammer isn't the fastest (although I have heard his 10yd is very quick), but in your example the defender has the angle and was running full steam.
It it should also he noted that that his running style is what allowed him to break that into a bigger gain than it was going to be.

eda, let's just agree to disagree. You and I are on opposite ends on this one. To me, that should have been a touchdown run.
I love the style of football that Wiseman represent but this is what kills me about so many HN posters that obviously know nothing about football. I'm all for being positive but the Oline were monsters and the key to todays game. If Wiseman was getting 5.8 then Canzeri, Wadley or even Daniels would of been averaged 7> easily because the line was getting such a great push. Wiseman is still a fullback that is converted to RB. I love the guy and think he represents Iowa football but there is better talent on the bench that needs more carries.
I like Mark Weisman as much as the next guy, but this was his first 100 yard game of the season, and it came against a defense that leaked like a sieve. I've said it before and I'll say it again - MW is a great situational/short-yardage back, great in goal line situations, or a guy you can have in when you want to pound away for 4-5 yards a pop late in a game that you want to salt away, but there is not typically enough explosiveness using him as your feature back all game long.
Canzeri was also eating Illinois' D alive in the 2nd half, making a killing getting to the outside. 12 for 68 with 5.7 average.
In other words, I think any of our RB's would've had a big day.
