Answer to all you Mark Weisman critics!

Are you talking about the play where the defender had an angle on him? Not many running backs can out run a proper angle. Melvin Gordon would be on that shortlist.

Yes, the one where MW had the separation on both defenders at the 17 yard line and was caught from behind at the 8 yard line. If your rb cannot out run the defense in that situation, it is due to a clear lack of acceleration and speed.

On a side note, with the same blocking Melvin Gordon would run for 350...just to give you some perspective.

Peyton Manning would have thrown for 600 yards, just to give you some perspective... Doesn't matter though cause he's not on the team.

Most of the people responding to this thread are negative to Mark. He was thrust into the TB role a few years ago because of injuries and has been productive since. Who else would we have started the last few weeks? Canzeri has been hurt, Wadley has ball control issues and no one wants to see Bullock as a featured TB.

Not really. That he is what Kirk feels is his best option at TB is an indictment of Iowa's RB recruiting/development, IMO

If MW had any speed at all he would have had double the yards today that he ended up with. Illy just tackled really really bad and that helps him, but he had HUGE holes and wsa just painfully slow to get through them again.

I believe that his speed is underrated. I would not want to be a defensive back trying to tackle him that's for sure. He had a 50 yard kick off return already this year. On his 38 yard run this year he also should good speed and moves.

I assume that means his longest run on the year is 38 yards? 10 games into the easiest schedule in the history of easy schedules.

Underrated speed? He's probably the slowest rb in the nation, and he hasn't been running anyone over this year either.

Come on nick MW speed is not underrated it's not there. I also want a back that when he gets to the 2nd level can house and blow by the DB. When MW gets to the 2nd level he always is looking behind him wondering who is coming..

I did some research into this:

Mark Weisman's 40 time 4.58 sec.

I compared it to last years draft combine results that was even with:
Devonta Freeman, Florida St. - 4.58
and better than some of these guys you might know of:
Jeremy Hill, LSU - 4.66 (4.63 u)
Carlos Hyde, Ohio St. - 4.66 (4.62 u)
Silas Redd, USC - 4.70 (4.68 u) wasn't he the pedo state xfer?

If you are pulling that from the NFL Draft Scout site, that's horribly unreliable. According to an article from Hawkcentral (or maybe it was some other Hawk-centric site), Weisman has never been timed at Iowa. But if you put the mark on an official 40 yard dash at 4.58, I'm taking the over.

He remind me of John Riggins

He is like blue collar running back at Washington Redskins.
