He was dominant today! This was one of the best running performances I've seen in a long time. He was running over and around everyone on the field. He broke a couple of long ones too. He opened up the game for passing too on the play action passes. He should have also had a touchdown rather than a fumble on that play on the goal line if it had been reviewed. The ball did break the goal line before the fumble. Iowa scored anyways, but still he is going for a record and I hate to see one taken away from him. Let's keep it going Mark Wesiman 4 more wins let's do this!

I like Mark as well, but we need to call plays that aren't so damn predictable on the goal line. If we bootleg on the first series we score easy, easier yet if we have the mobile Qb with the better arm playing to run it.

Weisman's legend will grow in the years to come. He's another in a long line of wonderful walk-on stories. He and our speed backs (take your pick: parker/canzeri/wadley) need to be in the back field at the same time with Weisman more often. I mean you've got a guy who play FB/RB, why not use that to your advantage to keep the defense off balance? GDGD apparently doesn't like too many options for a nice gain at the same time.

Plewa looks pretty good at FB. He's probably way better than Weisman at blocking. What is inexplicable is why we converted a LB to FB when we could have presumably had better results using the Weisman and a speed back.

You do realize that EVERY other rb on our team would have scored a touchdown on the opening drive where MW was caught from behind, even though, he had a 3 yard lead on 2 defenders, right? Probably even LeShun Daniels would have scored. We wound up with no points on that drive and that is how MW costs Iowa yardage and points; his lack of speed. You cannot deny it and it has been so for almost 3 full seasons now.

MW had a good game, to be sure. He was not dominant. How many yards would JC or AW have had with 23 carries?

MW is what MW is, that is a hard working dude doing what he knows how.
He deserves a long applause on Sr Day.

I started a thread about how few long touchdowns we scored in the last 5 years. Weisman is a big reason for that. I love the things he does well but having a full time back that hasn't had 1 long td run in 3 years is tough to overcome.

This is so true. Imagine how hard it would be for a defense to not know if they were going to get run over or run around until the handoff.

Are you talking about the play where the defender had an angle on him? Not many running backs can out run a proper angle. Melvin Gordon would be on that shortlist.

He did have a good day, but Illinois rushing defense also gives up well over 300 yards per game.

We're on the same page. Make sure Weisman is on the field, but let our speed backs do their thing. With Weisman at FB Kirk could get away from that predictable offense where the Fullback gets 4 touches per SEASON. At FB Mark could get a handful of touches each game and that would keep the opposing defense guessing. It would also help all the other skill positions, especially our speed backs.

I like Mark. But today was all about the OL pushing the LOS three to five yards downfield on the majority of plays. Albert Young, Shonn Greene, Ladell Betts, Fred Russell, Jermelle Lewis, Adam Robinson, Brandon Wehger, etc, top 200 with that type of push.

Mark is what he is...a useful part of the offense, but Iowa has no complete running back this year

And Plewa. Don't forget about Plewa. Dude's a stud.
