Youth and defensive minded. Iowa ties would be preferable but having a black assistant would be better as Iowa is severely close to being an all-white staff and team. That would hurt Iowa’s perception to recruits.

Francis was the age buffer between the players and the rest of the staff. I would think a younger replacement would be ideal to fill that void.

Any word on where Francis is headed? I haven't seen anything.

My vote is for a family member or handler of a 5* recruit.

I knew we had some older coaches, but I didn't realize they could all be card carrying AARP members.

When people roll out the “iowa ties” thing, i shake my head. Why are iowa ties needed? I want east or west coast or Chicago ties. Why would we want or need “iowa ties”?
