All Quiet on the Eastern Front

It is awfully quiet in Iowa City. No comments from Barta; no vote of confidence; nothing.

I think Coach Lickliter is in big trouble. I supported him all year, but maybe it is time for a change.

The team is playing like it knows something we do not know.

Where the hell have you been? Barta stood behind his guy during the whole Lickliter video thing, and said just a couple of days ago that he's sticking with Todd.

Do what everyone else is doing - sit back and watch Cyclone Nation devour itself.

Yes, i know Barta said some positive things over a month ago, but this team has quit (not a good sign).

You can laugh, but I talked to a very well connected person today who thinks he will be fired. This person is very reliable.

I hope I'm wrong because I really do think Coach deserves one more year at least.

Barta may make a move, now that Pollard has "declared" that McDermott (who is truly a lousy coach who can't even win with NBA caliber players) is still his coach.

Also, I don't really see that Barta has much to lose by making a change (the money he will pay Lickliter will be made up by increased basketball season ticket sales due to a change in coach).

Barta may feel he has very little downside and a lot of upside by making a move now.

Ive heard hes gone, but then again i hear lots of things. Usually they end up not being true. I live in IC and have heard it from multiple people. Take it with a grain of salt

Well, at least according to busabus I'm not completely crazy.

The rumors are flying in Iowa City.

It's not good for Iowa basketball.

I think if Iowa gets blown out by Michigan, it might push Barta over the edge.

He can't be happy with how things are going with the basketball program.

On the other hand, if the team plays inspired ball, perhaps it pushes him the other way.

I really think he is struggling with a decision - Coach Lickliter is a good guy but this season has been awfully hard on Iowa fans.

I agree with this, if Iowa gets beat like they have the last 2 games I think Lick might be gone.

I guess I just don't see how anyone can feel Lick deserves to stay given the unprecedented lows we have experienced on several fronts. Better coaches have been canned for better performance in the same amount of time. I guess I think we deserve more.

Look, without contactnig Gary Barta and/or Sally Mason, you're setting yourself up for a repeat perfomance. Speak up! Make your voice known!

Emailing Barta and Mason one day before the last game is not going to effect whether or not Lick is back. Whatever the decision is, its already been made

Not necessarily. Although I suspect the "major" donors already have made their opinions known.

Just my opinion but i think Barta knows what hes going to do...and i dont think input from random fans (assuming no one here is a big donor) will make a difference

Imo, there is no downside to firing Lickliter after tomorrow's game for Barta. It would also show me that he really is the tough and smart AD at Iowa, that he was at Wyoming and with Alford. A new beginning will bring fans back to Carver Hawkeye next year and give fans hope that the Hawks will be competitive again in a few years. Gillispie is sitting out there waiting for an opportunity like Iowa to again show that he is a very good coach. Strike while the opportunity presents itself.
