Aaron White will be a solid NBA player

Im not claiming to be an expert. Please show me where I said I was an expert?

Try to remember your own lies. You posted earlier in the thread how you watch more basketball than anyone and that you played in college. Pretty hilarious how you refuse to say where you played after being asked about it repeatedly.

You can have a lot of things going for you and still not make the NBA. Adam Haluska is a good example of this.

I think on the current team I could see White or Marble in the NBA if they keep improving every year. Basabe is quite a tweener, so he'll have to really add some more to his game to make it. I think part of his struggles this year might have come from trying to add too much instead of focusing on what he's good at.

And for those who are calling out the OP, I believe Coach Fran compared White to Troy Murphy, who has had a 10 year career in the NBA already.

Ill back austinhawk to some degree. AW might get a shot in the NBA but Idk how good he will be. And as for all you critisizing him, how do you know he didn't play ball? Don't tell someone their view of a player is wrong when you dont know yet? Most guys on here pretend that they are tough guys or great athletes but very few are. But some are good athletes. I love when people know more about basketball because they've spent more time in front of the tv with their kfc bucket watching people play, rather than actually getting on the court.

This thread is comical. All's I know is that given the fact somebody actually started a thread talking about one of our guys possibly playing at the next level, it's a good thing. A VERY good thing seeing White will be a Hawkeye for 3 more years and in all likelyhood is only gonna get better.

Aaron White has zero chance of ever putting on a NBA jersey. He's an ok player on a bad team right now. How many stud freshmen have we had lately? Eric May? Matt Gatens? Jake Kelly? We have been so bad that we have to rely on below average freshmen to help us out. Aaron White is just another in a long list of those players. He can't drive by anyone and gets all his points on hustle. That's great and I love it but that won't translate at all to the NBA. He will get abused.

Wassabbe. Just curious. Not sure how you can make such statements when 1.) ESPN is rating him the top 15 freshman to date in D1 and 2.) it seems to be a common theme amongst most people that White is the #3 freshmen in all of the BIG this year? Not sure that's exactly an "average" freshman on a bad team thing? I'm not saying he's got a lock on the NBA nor am I saying there is noway he can make it, but...your statements only add to the comical nature of this thread. By the way, you posted something like the following awhile back about White: "Aaron is 11 for 32 in games we have lost this year. Imagine what he will do when we play even better competition." You might wanna check out his BIG stats before you continue to post your thoughts. It's simply wrong to throw a kid under the bus if he doesn't deserve it.

He's a top 15 freshmen in terms of production but not based on talent. There are guys all across the country who are much better freshmen than him but they aren't needed like him so they don't get rated that high. Can you link the list of 15?

White may put up the 3rd best #'s in the Big 10 but he isn't the 3rd best freshmen in the Big 10

Like I said. This thread is comical. Check out ESPN and you'll find the article. you have to be a subscriber to ESPN to actually read it.

i didn't have go to thru the whole thread to know most would trash the OP,
what is comical are those trashing a kid in his freshmen year, you trash the kid but ultimately trash Fran as not being able to recruit good players or being able to produce quality players, I guess it does come down to the # of *'s by a kids name if he is good or not, or the fact that the kid is coming to or play for Iowa. that determines his ability to play

Again, don't accuse me of saying the kid clearly is NBA quality. Not saying that. Nor am I saying he's NOT NBA material. All's I'm saying is there's no need to throw a kid under the bus who CLEARLY is performing and putting up very, very solid stats against BIG talent. Who gives a damn if he's the most talented or highly rated? HE'S PRODUCING. Isnt that all that matters? Let's have this debate in a year or so. My gut tells me the picture just might be a little more clearer at that point.

So I made a point in a post 2 months ago about Aaron's play and how I thought it might relay to the Big 10 and you are saying I'm trashing the kid? I'm not. He's a solid player. He's not the kind of player you build your program around and he will never be a go to scorer. He's a guy that works his *** off and is a crowd favorite because of it. What's not to like about that?

All I'm saying is that Aaron White isn't a top 15 freshmen in college and isn't going to the NBA. That's not a knock. Only 20-30 players a year go from college to the NBA and make a team (probably less than that).

Do you think Aaron White is better than any of these freshmen?

Austin Rivers
Anthony Davis
Kidd Gilchrest
Cody Zeller
Brad Beal
LeBryan Nash
Marquis Teague
James McAdoo
Quincy Miller
Nick Johnson
Branden Dawson
MO Harkless
Trey Burke
Kentavious Pope
PJ Hairston
Tony Wroten

That's just off the top of my head. In all honesty he isn't better than the guys sitting on Ohio State's bench. They have 4 star freshmen sitting because they have a stacked team ahead of them. Aaron gets the benefit of getting good PT b/c we stink right now

I'm not going to get into a discussion of "is he better than this kid, etc, etc". PRODUCTION is what counts. If a kid elects to go to a program and sit on the pine for a year or more. God bless him. Kinda stupid if you ask me. Try and convince me it doesnt stunt a kids growth as well as put him behind the eight ball re the next level by doing so. Again. Let's have this discussion in a year or so. White has had an awesome freshman year. If he builds on this next year and the next? He'll get looks from the next level. It's common sense.

Pretty much every guy I listed has had more production this year than Aaron. I didn't even include the more talented guys that are backing up at Kentucky, UNC, Ohio State, etc.

Nobody is trashing anyone. To make the NBA you have to be in the top 80 players at your position in the entire world. Plenty of dominant college players including conference MVP's don't make the NBA. Only someone with limited intelligence would equate that to trashing someone.

I am sure Ohio States McDonalds All American Center is being stunted because he plays against Sullinger and a roster full of extremely talented players for 3 hours a day! Are you freaking serious?

And I'm pretty sure NBA scouts are drooling over those practice sessions. I think the real question Tskinner is "are YOU frickin serious?" Not sure when the last time a PRACTICE PLAYER made an NBA roster?
