It took him 8 downs to get there because on the first set of downs, on 2nd and 2, he ran a reverse and lost 10 yards putting him in 3rd and long. He had to the punt the ball away on 4th down when he got sacked on 3rd down by a Toyota Prius.

Those were terrific skits or whatever you call them on the Tonight Show. Johnny was so good on that show with his facial expression and Ed was the perfect sidekick. Johnny is such a mystery as he was so much different in his personal life than what he portrayed on TV. He was such a personable guy and a great interviewer on TV, but in his personal life was kind of a hermit and avoided people. Not too accessible. He literally went away after he retired, to never be seen again. He really had no appearances publicly after he retired.
