13th ranked D? Not any more. You can double that ranking after today. Giving up 504 yards and 35 points to the 87th ranked offense; about 80 yards and 9 points above their average. Oh, say, wasn't that yer boy left out there with the 2s when Purdue was shredding the 13th ranked scoring D for 21 4th qtr points? Oh yea it was, as he did a beautiful pirouette into a face plant while whiffing at air. LOL ... stellar ... BAHAHAHA!!

For the record ... I called out King a few times for looking bored, playing uninspired and having a poor game. KEY WORD ... GAME! He made one of the biggest plays of the day when it was most needed. That's what the really good ones do, even on off days.

So why was our most "consistent" linebacker still playing with the second string defense? You know the guy who lead the team in tackles today by a landslide (it was funny, because the announcers kept giving Jewell credit when he came in at the 'last minute' to 'clean up' Bower's tackles, lol).
If we know ANYTHING about KF, it's that he values execution and consistency over anything. So if Bo is that, he should have been the FIRST guy off the field as he would be invaluable to lose.

Mends did play today (at least he's on the participation report...could've been special teams only), so if Bower was as bad as suggested (I haven't been able to watch the game yet), there must be a big enough chasm between Bower and Mends to warrant Bower staying on the field.

Yeah, wait till Iowa's B1G schedule gets tougher or opponents' offenses get more athletic or Iowa's defense plays in a bowl game again a good, not in a phone booth offense.. Then you'll see Iowa's offensive rating go down...again. Hope for bad weather, folks. It's what will keep Iowa's defense from imploding.
Either Jeff Parker has to go or...
Side note: Really, some still think (not necessarily STILLBUSTER) recruiting don't matter? KF thinks it does.

Iowa's defensive drop off came when Purdue decided to spread the field and pit their offense's athleticism and scheme against Iowa's defensive athleticism and scheme.
Not when the 2s took the field on defense.

KF: No, we didn’t want to get him more work just trying to make all the pieces fit where at least somebody could kind of have command of things and be confident we were going to get the right calls in. It sure didn’t look like it, but that was the purpose behind it.
