#41 Bo Bower

Settle down there Francis don't get your panties in a bunch. It was in no way a criticism of Beatherd and Stanzi, just the opposite. Re-read and try to use some critical thinking skills.

Nope. I got it the first time. You believe that people here on this forum and other fan forums forced Coach to change a player. I believe that maybe the player worked hard and proved to the staff in practice that they deserved to be the starter.

I'm not getting my "panties in a bunch" at all. I believe the coaches see a player every day in practice and make evaluations. I believe we see a few minutes on 11 Saturdays is only the tip of the iceberg and we don't know what happens every day in practice... You know, the other six days of the week. The coaches see them for at least 18 hours a week, probably more if you include film and "chalk talks". We see them for 1 through the lens of TV or possibly in person from a seat well removed from the game.

When I was coaching, I based who I played on how they performed in practices. By your statement earlier, you believe the coaches read fan forums and base who should start on what's being said there.

No I believe that coaches DO base their evaluations on how players perform during practices and that is sometimes a mistake and clouds a coaches judgment and prevents them from admitting a mistake. Rudock... perfect example, the crowd saw it a long time before Ferentz and crew admitted their mistake, Christianson/Stanzi same way. The arrogance of coaches, and in your case former coaches astounds me......it is not brain surgery, either a player has talent on game day and can handle the pressure, or he can't. Us mere fans can't possibly understand according to you. You are a fool. It is entertainment....that's it.

Yeah, the wording was a not right there. Gonzalez was a good WR in college but not that good. Greenway was matched up on him A LOT during a game and got smoked. Nothing against Greenway but that put Gonzalez on a different level.
I did not get to watch the whole game Saturday so I was not aware that they did run a lot of nickle. Traditionally though they have not run it a lot. Thanks for pointing that out.

NFL linebackers can't cover NFL receivers either. Iowa has been trying to cover 4. 4 speed receivers with 4.8 speed linebackers for years.

I didn't know our defensive scheme called for making tackles after 5 and 6 yard gains.

And the announcers are not "biased". Jewell is an exceptional football player, Bower is not. That's why Bower doesn't get talked about.
A couple 'facts' for you. Bower hit the back for a 2 yd. loss, Jewell comes in and jumps on the 'pile' and the announcer credits him (Jewell) with a tackle for loss....comical. Yeah Jewell is just exceptional this year, like on the play where he has Clement for a 2 yd. loss and Clement just runs right through him for his biggest gain of the day. Don't let 'facts' get in the way of your delusions....You must be a republican, lol.........
P.S. And I supposed you think King is having a great year also, lol...........That great coverage and 'strip' he had against Wisky was second to none, LOL..........CJ and King should have both left after last year, because I'm pretty sure it's their 'selfish' attitudes that is leading to some of the chemistry problems this team has....THEY ARE NOT GOOD LEADERS!!!

About 25 years ago, Derrick Thomas had 7 sacks in a game against the Seahawks. Then, on one of the last plays of the game, he had Dave Krieg for sack #8 but he slipped away and threw a game winning TD pass. Applying the logic above and reducing the quality of play for an entire game (as you have above) to just one play would be akin to bemoaning Derrick Thomas' record-setting day as well, would it not? FWIW, I'm not suggesting that Jewell had that level of day...

I haven't had the time to watch and re-watch any of the games this year, but I did go back and speed through the Wisconsin game with an eye specifically on King. Other than the big play (which was, admittedly, lazy coverage and a lazy tackle attempt), he played pretty well. There were a few run fits that could have been better, but there were quite a few that were very good. If I remember right he had only 2 other balls completed near him; both were flat routes and one of them was when King was in deep 1/3.
