#4 Iowa @ Penn St. Gameday Thread

Their arena will be DEAD which it has been for years. Perfect environment to regain some confidence and get a big win. This will be the 'easiest' game Iowa has left. To lose would likely mean there goes the conf. title.

Not too worried about this one. Will Jok or Uthoff blow up is the only question? My guess is both will... Again. Imagine how good of a game Uthoff would have had last game if he wouldn't have been ice cold the first 17 mins of that first half... I think he's just so focused in now that he's going to tear it up down the stretch

The last 3 years Penn State has played us tough at their place...but we won them all. All 3 games went down to the wire. And I believe they knocked us out of the Big 10 Tournament last year as a 13 seed. I am confident we will win. But recent history suggests it will be a close game throughout.

I am not posting this because I think we will lose...totally expect to win. I am posting this because I don't want to read 5 threads about hitting the wall, peaking too early, being pretenders, etc. if we only win by 5. If we score 1 more point than Penn State I will be happy. It's all about the win for me.

I agree. I just think it's on the "other guys" Jok and Uthoff are going to do their thing. It's if the other guys and bench can contribute in the scoring column more. Clemmons has been holding his own for the most part. But Woody has to get some touches down there more often. We gotta quit doing the dribble around at the top killing time thing. Get Woody some more touches he can pass out of there and get others looks too. And of course the bench.... I think that'll come. Uhl and Baer will do better and I love what Wagner brings. Ellingson has been doing nothing but giving Jok brief breathers out there though. If he could hit a shot or two and not be borderline worthless out there that'd sure be nice. Granted that's a tough role. To play so little and be expected to shoot well when your not in any kind of rhythm is hard. But that's part of it he's gotta start hitting a shot now and then

Still, it would be nice to see the bench step up this game and give the starters some breathing room.

I really hope the starters take care of business early to get rest, and equally important, to give the bench lots of minutes to figure out how to run the offense without Uthoff and Jok on the floor. I hope we use this as a bounce back game for our reserves to get their mojo back.

I hope we win by 25 and the starters all play less than 30 minutes and 5 bench players score at least 2 points with a couple guys off the bench scoring 8 to 10. But I won't be shocked if this doesn't happen.

I really would like Uhl to hit a couple 3's in this one.

I tend to agree that the biggest thing to come from this game will be for the bench to offer some reassurance.

I'm trying really hard to follow Windsor's approach. While I'll take the W, it'll be a struggle to accept more of the last couple games, especially when Sagarin says should win by 12 and Vegas says should win by 9.

Do not want any doubt creeping in against those last 4, that are looking a lot tougher than they did just a couple weeks ago.

Poor choice of words, especially since we are playing Penn State.

Good point .

I fully expect to win this game, but PSU will not be the push over they were at Carver

Agree. I'll take a 1 point win and come home. There's a couple posts here that indicate the writers think tonight should be an easy one. This might be what Indiana was thinking when they played there, too....and we know how that came out. DON'T expect any road game to be easy or an automatic just because we've had wins at some of the tougher places to play. We've got a target on our backs since we're leading the conference this late in the year. We're gonna get everybody's best shot. Plus with regard to tonight, PSU hasn't forgotten how we absolutely waxed 'em a couple weeks back. Extra motivation for them. My advise...if we win by any amount take it and be glad, and then focus on the next one. Nothing's gonna be easy from here on
