3 favorites for a hideous season, west

These would be the teams I would most love to see hideous seasons from this year, West...

Wisconsin (sickening fans)

Nebraska (classless players)

Northwestern (tired of them owning Iowa)

I would throw in The Golden Rodents, who are still trying to find the oars for the boat.

Wisconsin honestly probably does have the worst fan base in the entire big ten. Damn liberals.

I agree. The Wiscy fans I know are actually pretty reasonable all things considered.
Hell no they aren’t. I live in Madison and they don’t even enjoy seeing their teams win other than to talk shit to the opposition whether it’s wartburg, Minnesota, or iowa. The second their teams aren’t good they are calling for heads and not only of coaches but 18-22 year old kids.this is no joke, they are complete douchebags who think their shit doesn’t stink.

Wisconsin fans are pretty self-aware, thing is, they are striving for more with their scheduling of big games. In my two trips to Camp Randell I met some very friendly fans. Don't lump them in with Debby. At least they realize you have to risk it for the biscuit.

That's all Barry. I don't see how you can give fans the credit for that.

Know tons of Wisky fans. SHOCKED at how most don’t realize how good they’ve had it over last 20 years. The problem w Wisky is US. We ENVY the CRAP outta them...

Football AND basketball (the only 2 sports that we truly “count”)

I don't mind WI fans. I don't mind MN fans, although I only know one. Now Nebby fans...they are an insufferable lot who thinks they will be fighting for a national championship every year. Most laughably, they believe everyone else sees them the same way. For reasons no one can explain, they completely block out the fact that Iowa has absolutely owned their asses in football and pretty much every other sport for the last half a decade.

So true ... it kind of all started with this play ... one of my favorites.

While Wiscy fans aren't at the same level as Nebby fans, I can back some of this up. Badger fans were calling for Bo Ryan's head after he led them two consecutive final fours, which that program will never do again. I have also brought up in the past the holier than thou nature of Wisconsin residents compare to Iowans, which comes from the perspective of now having lived in the state for eighteen years.

I believe the liberal nature of Madison area politicians and officials was the very thing that put Badger athletics in the dark ages. While many college campuses were social outposts for anti Vietnam activity, you could still see remnants of that in Madison well into the 1980's. It was hard for the university to get cooperation with state legislature and it trickled down to athletics. By 1990 seven sports had been cut from the athletic budget and the basketball team played in an outdated facility. Wisconsin athletics were a mess.

Barry Alvarez had to do more than revive the football team when he arrived. He had to reverse negative attitudes toward athletics in general.

I think Barry Alvarez is arguably one of the greatest ADs of all time. He turned the entire athletic program around.

When your teams are really good, it's easy to become obno. I guess I don't blame them.

Over the years I've hated every single B1G team. I didn't used to hate NW but then they got better in football.

I still remember when Nebraska came into the conference almost every Nebraska fan I knew thought they were going to run the table in conference play, no problem. I tried to tell them that from top to bottom they were going to find the B1G a much tougher conference. They learned, were humbled. But the thing with Nebraska is, when you've had the success they've had, the national championships, the unbeaten streak, you never give up wanting that and never keep striving for that, just take a look at Bama. The Husker faithful are hoping Scott Frost is the man. Is he? Too early to tell. But some year they will get back there and it won't be much fun for we Hawkeeyes unless we are right there with them.

I think Nebraska made a huge mistake when they didn't make a run for Barry after Tom Osborne retired. Returning to his alma mater with his physical brand of smash mouth football, he probably could have sustained Tom's level of excellence and eventually transitioned into the AD job there.

Long story short, there’s a reason Wisconsin state rankings are in the 30’s and 40s. People here suck, it’s actually one of the most racist states in the country(yes I know Arkansas and Mississippi exist and also public-liberal colleges here say that) roads here are always under construction, the state allows you to have 120 DUIs, domestic violence goes up when the badgers/packers lose. (Wisconsin’s fake fans don’t care about the Milwaukee teams cuz they have always sucked so don’t be fooled by the Brewers/Bucks “fans”) and as someone who works with civilians and criminals everyday in Madison I will tell you, it’s not as great of a college town or bar town as it’s made out to be partially because of recent migration from Chicago and partially because people can’t handle alcohol here. I’m tell y’all right now, yes Nebraska fans suck they look as dumb as ISU fans right now. But Wisconsin fans are the worst. I could give examples but I would need to write a book. Ex-2015 Iowa beat WI 10-6 I witnessed a 15 year old Iowa fan get sucker punched by a Wisconsin student in a railroad costume then run like a coward. That same game a Wisconsin student came up to me, attempted to rip my Hawkeye hat off my head and missed them attempted to assault me by throwing a punch/slap thing at me then told me penn state is better at wrestling like we weren’t at a football game. If that example fits the category of Nebraska and the other schools above then I’ll call them out. Until then I think Wisconsin has the worst fans. Hell they talked shit to Northern Iowa fans who have nothing to do with them when I was at that game back in 2012! I’ll never go back to Camp Randall Stadium.

You know this would only take our SOS, BPI, RPI down, don't you. Then the talking heads would complain how Iowa isn't worthy because played a crappy schedule.

I have a few Wisconsin friends and they are very level headed when it comes to their teams...both basketball and football. Obviously they have their slant...as do we...but they aren't obnoxious at all.

OTOH, I have a couple Nebraska friends who are out of control annoying and live in the Nebraska media bubble. Scott Frost and Matt Campbell are the 2 coaches who have done very little at their current schools yet are worshiped as if they're gods.
