1.4 million to Jane (I assume Tracey will now get a check instead of a trial)

Now it's clear why season ticket holders didn't get a $5/game coupon for concessions at Kinnick this fall. 40,000 season tickets. $5/game. 7 games. $1.4 million. Coincidence? I think not.

Thanks, Gary. Now I won't be able to enjoy my popcorn quite as much this year.

That's because she is a vile, nasty woman with a huge chip on her shoulder. Be thankful that you don't work for her or with her.

Why do you think the university lawyers didn't go farther in their attacks on her character? The few things said by coaches seems to be moving in that direction, but not very far. It seems that proving she was a poor employee would have been a priority in disproving that actions taken against her were for other reasons.

So for the next few years, if Barta stays, we're going to have activist lawyers running Iowa sports.

Fire Barta now before Iowa becomes the next Mizzou.

This whole thing is interesting. At the same time, it can't end fast enough. Barta may or may not need to go, I simply want a quick decision by the U of I, and move along. In reality, it'll take forever, include loads of scrutiny, rhetoric, and unsubstantiated opinion...such is life as its always been, now massively amplified by 24 hour news cycle, social media.

I find it strange how little I find myself caring about this entire thing, other than the social experiment aspect of it in terms of reaction.

There is so much behind the scenes noone will ever know.

If Barta needs to go....have a plan on replacement before it's necessary, that's all I ask.

I have spoken with several lawyers in Des Moines this morning. One sat through two days of the trial. Both were shocked that the jury found against the university. It says volumes about today's society: A rich university against a poor employee.
A "shocked" lawyer is a poor lawyer. Find better lawyers.

Everyone says Barta has to go but to me these attorneys should no longer be retained for their poor advice in even taking this to trial, failure to see Meyer's attorney's probably cherry-picking of jurors that would have a certain world view, and not going after the fact she was a sub-standard employee.

I don't agree with you much, but a quick resolution to this would be preferred. Either go all in with Barta and back him, or end it quickly. Unfortunately, even if Barta is let go today, this is likely to drag on. And that sucks.

Anyone shocked by any outcome based on subjective reasoning, haven't been paying attention.

Objectivity, pragmatism, and common sense are less and less prevalent in legal, political, or social arenas. Agenda, rhetoric, and emotion rule the day. The full story is rarely sought out.

You can't show up and say how bad of an employee she was and then look into her employment file and see nothing but positive work reviews. They tried to do that to some extent but the jury didn't find it a good enough reason to fire her with no supporting evidence and frankly, neither do I.

True, But lawyers are paid big bucks to pull rabbits out of hats. I find it curious that any lawyer worth the paper his degree is written on, would be shocked by this.

It's all part of Kirk's master plan. Kirk to AD. Brian to Head Coach. The apprentice has now become the master.
Gotta admit, did not think of that. Interesting...

Agreed. Politicians are also paid big bucks to govern and legislate. Unfortunately, many are paid even more to do neither. But I digress.

Interesting. More interesting? KF having a female boss who doesn't agree to everything he wants! Get your popcorn and enjoy the fireworks! I can see it happening after the external investigation ends in firing Barta. I might do a search for ADs who are women to see what the pool looks like.

You mean like you're doing with Barta? (Since I've been on this forum)
There's no hate for Barta, but the dude is incompetent and this outcome proves that. Slandering someone as a nasty woman is not the same as calling someone out for breaking the law as incompetent.
