How how how can u justify not firing Greg Davis?

Sorry, but I'm not buying into the Greg Davis b*******. Lots of OCs come in and do well in their first year with a team with the talent they were handed. Didn't GD say that CJF was the most talented TE he has ever had? If that's the case, why hasn't he been utilizing him more? Make no...

Things are going to get worse so buckle up...

I don't know that we would have missed an onside kick, but say that we had and then gave up a score......that wouldn't have been JVB's fault and that was the point of this thread.

Ferentz years best in Iowa History? You be the judge

That's not completely in context though. I'll give ya Miami, Tennesse and 1992 Colorado and even 1994 Oregon. However, since games are scheduled 3-5 years in advance, four straight years of Nebraska and the UCLA game were probably on the schedule before Hayden got there. The Colorado team...

Ferentz years best in Iowa History? You be the judge

Their body of work doesn't compare the times they coached in though. When Hayden coached, it was the Big 2 and the little 8. Hayden didn't have to worry about also playing Penn State almost every year or Wisconsin having a good program. Those are realities today. Northwestern is a LOT better...

Things are going to get worse so buckle up...

Sorry, but a lot of this is BS. He was a RS freshman when he was pressed into action in 2009, so he shouldn't be taking a lot of flack for that. Don't quite know what you mean by "fumble throat goal line safety to win." Purdue fumbled into the pylon for a touchback, but we still won by 10...

Ferentz years best in Iowa History? You be the judge

That's not true. LSU won their bowl game over #12 Clemson. Army, Auburn and Air Force (who tied Iowa that season) were three other schools that went undefeated...unlike Iowa.

Ferentz years best in Iowa History? You be the judge

I have some of the same issues as other posters. The OP is off on a few categories. Not counting the first two years, both coaches had four seasons of more than five losses: Hayden (89, 92, 93, 98) and Ferentz (05, 06, 07, 11). You can count the Tulsa loss as bad for Hayden as they went 4-7...

I dont think this is a team that makes a bowl

That's your right to disagree. However, there are those on here that seem to have clairvoyance enough to foresee a 5-7 to 7-5 season. Since we can all agree that a record like that is unacceptable, there is no reason for them to watch the games or discuss the outcomes they themselves foresaw...

I dont think this is a team that makes a bowl

Well, those were your words, but when your defense gives up a late TD just when you need them the most, yes the plan failed. Like I said, if it was as easy as loading eight guys in the box, everyone would have success 100% of the time by doing so. No one said Vandy made them look foolish. The...

I dont think this is a team that makes a bowl

I'm not acting like we are going to hang 40 on them because we probably won't. I'm also not going to act like we will lose every remaining game on our schedule by 4 TDs. You're acting like those offenses will hang 40 on what is still a pretty decent defense and completely shut down our run...

I dont think this is a team that makes a bowl

The score and the stat line say different. We won and Weisman had over 100 yards at 4.5 per. MSU may have been the best defense we will see all year and they shouldn't have had to load the box. If it was as simple as loading up the box and daring weak QBs to beat you, every team would do it...

I dont think this is a team that makes a bowl

My argument is weak? I'm sorry, but weren't people saying that MSU was going to load the box against us? How well did that work out for them? None of the teams save Michigan and maybe Nebraska are near as good as the defenses we saw against MSU and PSU, so the idea that JUST loading the box...

I dont think this is a team that makes a bowl

Sorry, but this whole argument is weak. If the 1998 team was better, we would have to lose 36-6 over the next four weeks just to reach that level of play. I highly doubt that happens. This constant "we won't win another game this season" from some people gets old. Yes, NW has a potent...

    How absolutely frustrating....

If you watched the game, you know that Guiton made his share of mistakes in that game and he only saw action in the regular season because Miller went out of two other games with injuries. Purdue didn't exactly do themselves any favors down the stretch either. I agree with the bolded. I'd...

Penn State Football: Seven Reasons To Hate Iowa

I hate their fanbase more than any other on the planet and that is saying a LOT as I really hate OSU's too. The thing is that even when OSU fans talk ****, their team backs it up against us. PSU fans continue to talk **** and yet their team doesn't back it up. I remember all the comments...

    5.8 yrds - ???????????????????

I never miss a game and I never said I was satisfied. What I said was those stats don't mean much. I'm more concerned with the 57% completions.

    I don't get it

How do you decide when the backup is playing worse? He should have at least a full game to get used to game speed. So how many games does he get? You're acting like it's all about TDs and interceptions. If the kid doesn't know when to throw the ball away to avoid a sack or can't hang onto it...

    5.8 yrds - ???????????????????

You don't even have that right. It's 5.8 yards per ATTEMPT. It's a useless stat anyway because you can only get yards if you complete a pass. His yards per completion is 10.1. It's still near the bottom of the conference, but when the average of the top 10 guys (the only amount that have...

Indiana trying to go three for three?

Yeah, it's probably only a matter of time before they confirm it, but wins and losses go a long way. They can all talk up how great it would be to play together, but if Iowa plays well the rest of the season and Indiana stumbles to 3-9, that could go a long way towards changing minds.

Another CR kid may be headed to Michigan

Well, Weinke was the #14 pro style QB, McNutt was #13 dual threat, Stanzi was the #11 dual threat, Tate was the #14 pro style and Christensen was the #2 dual threat. Ratings aren't an exact science.
