I dont think this is a team that makes a bowl

Although Saturday's loss was emabarrassing, I think this team finds a way to elevate it's play from here on out. As the "Q" and supposed leader of this team, JVB needs to find a way to make things happen. I realize it's been a struggle for us as fans to watch his digression, the remaining schedule is not easy, and opponents will try anything and everything to disrupt him. But, I think the elevation is on both sides of the ball. The "D" needs to make plays and to keep making them. We will see a different Iowa come Saturday.

Looking at the bigger picture. How many teams out of the Big do you actually think win their bowl game this year? I know it's pretty early to make predictions but right now it's looking pretty dismal.

As a whole, it isn't looking good, but we need the match-ups to make predictions.

I really don't think it matters much, when literally the entire conference is playing up two spots, thanks to PSU and OSU. That's not favorable in a good year for the Big Ten. This ain't a good year.

Losing 19-16 in OT, when your offense is just about as inept as your opponent's, is not what I'd call having that plan blow up in your face.

Over a third of Weisman's total came on the final drive. He'd be contained as well as you could expect for almost the entire game (70 yards on 20 carries before the GT drive). Iowa had fewer first downs (a miserable total of 12), was outgained (328 MSU, 257 Iowa), and had more penalties.

Tell me again how Vandy made MSU look foolish for loading the box?

You also aren't taking into account that while MSU has arguably the best defense Iowa will see, they also have arguably the worst offense. Northwestern and Indiana may not have great defenses, but for whatever reason, Iowa has struggled to score points on them recently. And they have very good offenses.

Well, those were your words, but when your defense gives up a late TD just when you need them the most, yes the plan failed. Like I said, if it was as easy as loading eight guys in the box, everyone would have success 100% of the time by doing so. No one said Vandy made them look foolish. The comment was made that if the rest of our opponents are smart they will load eight in the box every time and that will be the end of it. Seems to me we scored over 40 points on box of them last year. I'm just not throwing in the towel on the season.

I'm done going back and forth on it, we'll just agree to disagree. I witnessed the worst game I've ever seen on Saturday night in the 17 years I've had season tickets. I think all our weaknesses were exploited against Penn St., most importantly how to move the ball up and down the field on our defense. I seriously hope you are right and we get this figured out, but after what I saw, I just don't see it happening. As far as your comment about McMillian and Blythe, I'm sure they will do a fine job but Schreff was playing at a very high level, tough to replace.

That's your right to disagree. However, there are those on here that seem to have clairvoyance enough to foresee a 5-7 to 7-5 season. Since we can all agree that a record like that is unacceptable, there is no reason for them to watch the games or discuss the outcomes they themselves foresaw. I do not have a crystal ball, so I'll continue to watch the games and see what happens rather than moan about stuff I can't control. If you are one of those folks that can afford to have season tix without it cutting into your budget, I envy you, as I would never miss a game. I don't see an easy go the rest of the season either, but I am not packing it in.

Fair enough. None of us can control it, I'm just basing my comments off what I've seen so far this year. I'm usually like you, but I can only defend so much.

Could be right.
