    What Seniors Will Get Drafted?

Scherff has put some very good efforts on tape vs Mich St & OSU; most teams will likely see him as mid-late 1st round value. Guessing he'll line up at RT in the NFL; could end up at OG as well. Either way I think he'll be a starter early on in his career. If I was advising him, I would tell him...

    What Seniors Will Get Drafted?

Definitely a possibility if he lands in a system where the DC is a flexible guy who likes to get creative. I can't see a team drafting a guy without a solid position in mind though, he'll have to earn a roster spot based on ST ability and being a solid backup WLB.

    What Seniors Will Get Drafted?

Think you're probably right about Morris. He's been healthy this year and has played very well. I see Morris as a back-up type MLB prospect, probably a later round value, 5th-6th. Both Kirksey and Hitchens project to be WLB's in the NFL. Not sure either has played consistent enough this year...

    What Seniors Will Get Drafted?

Hah, I wouldn't go that far. Scouting evals/opinions are nothing more than an educated guess. I'm guessing NFL scout grades on Boffeli will range from late round pick to a camp only guy. He would fit best in a zone heavy scheme, much like Vandervelde & Gettis. For Boffeli to make an NFL roster...

    What Seniors Will Get Drafted?

I've watched CC tape from 7-8 games this season, and have liked what Boffeli has done this year. I'm of the mind that Boffeli has played at a similar level to former Iowa OG's Julian Vandervelde and Adam Gettis; both of whom were late picks and are still on NFL rosters. I could see someone...

Chuck Long Sees Promise from the Hawkeyes

I didn't like the way they handled that situation either, but probably not quite for the same reasons. I'm ok with throwing the bomb on 3rd and 1, as long as you're willing to go for it on 4th and 1 from your own 40. Iowa clearly isn't going to be that aggressive despite what the numbers tell...

I'll still be around some, I just wont' be able to dive into games as much. As John said you can follow me on twitter and see my commentary as games go by.

    HAWKEYEGAMEFILM...Write Ups

My day job is now in the NFL which basically eats up all my time. I believe I'll be able to make it to a game or two this season.

    Phil Steele Magazine - Iowa

Van Sloten - 12 Scheff - 10 Blythe - 9 Boffeli - 3 Donnal - 3 Walsh - 1 MacMillan - 7 Total: 45 Believe it's correct. Lot of young talent and some depth there but not that many starts.

Ross Pierschbacher 1st Tem AA by Sporting News

Sadly I dont' have anything first hand on Larsen, as I was still on the playing side of things back then. However, I was told by a couple coaches(NCAA coaches) that he was one of the best pure athletes they'd seen for an OL at his size. None of them said he as a great football player. Leads me...

Ross Pierschbacher 1st Tem AA by Sporting News

Any position. I'm only going from around 2000 or so. If you get the chance watch the kid live in HS you'll be in for a treat. He was already very good as a freshman/underclassman and has only gotten better since.

Ross Pierschbacher 1st Tem AA by Sporting News

Said it before, will say it again: Pierschbacher is easily the best prospect I've seen from Iowa. Grinding, dominant run blocker who creates some serious initial pop and finishes blocks. Has enough athleticism to develop into a high level pass blocker at OT as well. If he puts his mind to it, I...

Iowa Football: 5 Players Not Yet on Depth Chart Who Will Be in August(Bleacherreport)

Re: Iowa Football: 5 Players Not Yet on Depth Chart Who Will Be in August(Bleacherrep Hah, he quoted me in this article. Overall a pretty nice synopsis. Long time till the season starts, need all the football we can get till then!

Way too early guess: any 2014 NFL picks on this year's roster?

These off-season evals aren't doing much projection/expected improvements for '13. Van Sloten's career trajectory has been pretty similar to former Iowa RT Markus Zusevics. Zeus was a little more athletic and a little less physical inside. Van Sloten has looked smoother and more physical this...

Way too early guess: any 2014 NFL picks on this year's roster?

I tweeted about this this other day: Draftable based on '12 film: CJF(~2nd-4th) Lowery(~3rd-5th) Kirksey(~4th-6th) Priority Free Agents: Morris Hitchens Miller Van Sloten Boffeli

HawkeyeGameFilm: Defensive Analysis from Iowa's Open Practice

Anthony Gair. Has some potential but is very raw and is likely to have plenty of growing pains if he were to play this year. Miller needs to step his level of play up and avoid mishaps, something he didn't do down the stretch in '12. All in all the whole defense needs to flush that last half of...

HawkeyeGameFilm: Defensive Analysis from Iowa's Open Practice

Not sure what Iowa is going to do with the other defensive end spot right now. The biggest concern to me with sliding out one of the DTs is the fact that Iowa will face a ton of athletic, mobile QBs. Not the least of which is Jordan Lynch of Northern Illinois who they'll see week 1. If I'm Iowa...

    HawkeyeGameFilm Breaks Down Iowa Offense

Sokol's throwing mechanics are definitely a little quirky and he's got an odd little wrist flick on his wind-up too. Of the three QBs I believe he had the most balls batted down during the scrimmage. The longer stride is usually tied to a QB trying to get more of his body into throws and it...

    HawkeyeGameFilm Breaks Down Iowa Offense

The foot speed shown by Beathard and Sokol is nothing to sneeze at; both guy's are pretty nifty athletes and can make some plays with their feet. Rudock is definitely more mechanical but has shown some ability to extend some plays as well. One of the things you don't get from these practices...
