GameFilm: All Three Defensive Group Evals

Lowery didn't have too many chances to make an impact. He made a couple of nice tackles on WRs after they made catches and showed some flashes of ability when covering his guy. Tools wise he's got good COD skills. Haven't seen him in man coverage situations enough yet to say how good his at...

GameFilm: All Three Defensive Group Evals

    1. Hard to say. The way Iowa uses their LEO I think Morris would be a pretty good fit there. His range is one of his best attributes at this point and he has shown some excellent chase and wrap skills. He does a good job jamming WRs and TEs when he gets the chance and thats another skill that a...

    Sideline violation call

In the post game Fitz seemed to think it was LBs coach Randy Bates who drew the flag. As stated above they generally dont't call this unless they've warned you multiple times already.

Lone PSU Positive: GameFilm Defensive Back Review

That would be me. Background: Played in HS & college. Spent the last 4-5 years in the scouting business. Done mostly NCAA->NFL prospects but have done a fair amount of HS->NCAA evaluations as well well. This is the 3rd season I've broken down Iowa games in this fashion.

    PSU GameFilm: Linebacker Evaluations

I don't think it's so much questioning my professionalism. If I am reading it right he's alluding to the fact Nielsen hasn't been getting much done. He's missed some plays to be sure and those are what I hit him -1 for, but he's been MIA on many plays where you might have expected a captain to...

    PSU GameFilm: Linebacker Evaluations

Not sure I'd say he's out of position in the middle, but he's definitely undersized right now. He's listed at 6'2 227 and having stood next to him a few times it seems fairly accurate. Keep in mind Morris is only a sophomore and probably will add 5+ lbs of solid mass in the off-season. At his...

    PSU GameFilm: Vandenberg Report Card

I'm not sure he always has a slow release, but he has always tended to take longer getting the ball out when he struggles with accuracy. It almost looks like he's consciously trying to have perfect mechanics on the throw and ends up slowing down his release. Very tough to think the ball in...

ESPN BLOG: Hawkeyes wide receivers catching on

I find it kind of amusing that Kirk has doubts about the receiving corp. I was positive Keenan Davis had a bright future from the moment he flashed his athleticism to go up and get a pretty off target fade from Stanzi way back in '09 against Arkansas St. Guy just needed to get on the field...

    Vandenbergs end of year stats.

I originally had predicted: 24TD 9INT 61%Completion 2875 yards. He's ahead of that pace right now by quite a bit but we'll have to see how he settles into the B1G schedule. Based on what I've seen i'd revise my numbers to 3000+ yards 30TD and leave the INTs at 9.

    Ronald Thompson?

FWIW I've seen him play twice this year and twice last year. No idea about his ability to qualify but I know he's had off the field issues. Notes From Dubuque Senior: #34 - Ronald Thompson RB/LB Looked like a D1 caliber athlete. Lot of raw power and speed. He ran awfully high most of...

This is for hardcore Iowa FB fans only: KMM TDs

The 4 Verticals concept is effective against all kinds of coverages and the coverage read at the snap usually dictates how the 'bender' route is run. The trips version does look to target zone looks more as you're getting 3 verticals into the same deep half. A lot of how an OC decides to run...

    HawkeyeGamefilm's analysis

Played in HS & College. I was a DB in college so I tend to be more knowledgeable about the reads and schemes for that position group. I've done a fair amount of scouting work the last 5 years for both HS->D1 and NCAA->NFL prospects. Started doing NFL draft evaluations work 4 years ago in the...
