Hawkeye Football: Addition, Attrition & 2012 Roster

From an earlier thread, and I never finished the numbers for Purdue or Wisconsin: Iowa (43 lost- 3 early NFL entrees)/115 offers 35% Illinois (41 lost- 4 early NFL entrees)/124 offers 30% Indiana (35 lost- 1 early NFL entry)/108 offers 31.5% Michigan (40 lost- 0 early NFL entry)/114 offers 35%...

    lets talk scheme on D

I disagree with parts of this post. A lot of what you are saying is true versus offenses like ours, but contain is really stressed versus spread looks. An example would be Binns who seemed to be more reckless and explosive as a sophomore as a pass rusher, but personally I think he is one of the...

    lets talk scheme on D

A 1 tech is a true Nose and the key to running a successful run stopping 3-4. All of these suggestions are solid, but Iowa did allow Prater to press occoasionally and they also incorporated a few delayed blitzes last season which were successful. I think that the defense will show more varied...

Sally Mason defends not releasing Coker info

if it was my child and he was innocent and I felt he was railroaded you're damn right I would want him to clear his name. I wonder if the U screwed up and has offered hush money. Too much cya in Iowa's admin for my taste.

Bob Sanders Sean Considine Derek Pagel Marchus Paschal Tyler Sash Bradley Fletcher Amari Speivey Shaun Prater would like to have a word with you. The secondary has not been an issue at Iowa.

openings as of now - who is the best fit for each

Raih, Ferentz and Woods are natural hires- played here, can sell their time in Iowa City as recruits and would connect with younger players. Anyone of them could take Florida and I think that pipeline would could be a bit more re-established.

    Parker is D-Coordinator

What makes you sure that Phil won't run the defense in a slightly different mode? He is a younger coach that has coached the most consistent unit of the defense. Maybe he knows that athletes that Iowa has recruited recently can do more than play off cover zone. Maybe he will shake up the...

    Parker is D-Coordinator

So given the shuffles staff will look like this DC Phil Parker DB Darrell Wilson LB Levar Woods DL Reese Morgan OC/WR Soup Campbell QB David Raih RB Lester Herb OL Brian Ferentz TE/ RC Eric Johnson Assume that Herb and Wilson keep special teams duties. If this is correct this could be a very...

Mr. Davis's return: exorcising of the demons

I am not going to lie. I teared up at the applause given to Coach Davis. It was a fantastic ceremony and really helped set the tone for the game. Also the student section was fantastic.

"Ken O'Keefe makes you a better person, better player"

If you broke down Iowa's scoring numbers as points per possession they will still be middle of the road. In fact Iowa's offensive scoring numbers were average or below in several key categories using advanced stats.

    O'Keefe Remembered

I will get killed for this but my impression of that play was the full back was supposed to seal the backside de on that play because he had gotten on two previous plays that were very similar earlier in the game. Morse was hurt that game and it was a back up playing in that spot. Loved the...

This new hire needs to be fast.

Needs to be done before spring. I wonder if they will have to post the job again? That would mean a delay of at least two weeks if I understand the rules right. Other than Campbell, no one jumps out to me on who would be the natural successor, but you have to think this wasn't just out of the...

Rumor - Vegas saying O'Keefe might be gone

Honestly how does the 2002 offense compare to the 2010 and 2011 offenses. That 2002 offense was a fluke driven by a mobile QB that could throw a very good post route to wide open receivers. 2002's offensive style was more akin to a spread offense than Iowa's traditional look. O'Keefe's...

    KOK rumor

This is only partially true. Iowa would prefer abslightly run heavy offense, but if you look at the offense over the last three years they are a pass first team through three quarters against solid competition. Ideally they will have a lead and run a lot in the fourth quarter.

    KOK rumor

These match my thoughts pretty closely. I think KOK is a great teacher from people I have talked to that attended camps or have been associated with the program. I am a little bit ambivalent in that I am also a Dolphins fan and think that the key to their success is going to rest on...
