    Small and Slow....

Oh that would be great, and would be an easy solution. Let's cut all of the under performing student-athletes and take them off scholarship and replace them with jucos. You could line the under performing players up at the end of the season and make the cuts. Injuries could be used to get...

Iowa's Woes are Easily Explainable and Fixable

Easily, he never learned how to block effectively. In high school CJ was blocking DE's that were about 190 to 210lbs. Did you watch CJ's blocking in the bowl game? It was sub par. This is D1 football, he will get better, it takes time. You have to have more than just size, strength and...

So did Marvin break the record?

Perhaps, but with some of his routes he appeared open to me, he just did not receive the ball timely or in some instances the pass was not delivered in the right spot. In the NFL the ball will be thrown with better timing and accuracy which will help. I know we all hope he has success at the...

    Fiedorowicz - blocking

He really struggled last night in blocking. On several running plays his man made the tackle for a zero to one yard gain. It will be interesting to see his grade from hawkeyegamefilm. If he doesn't improve his blocking skills next year I would not be surprised to see him sharing time next year.

Wes Bunting of NFFP has Reiff #6

Boffeli was a TE coming to Iowa, now up to weight, should be 300 next year, I understand he is one of the top three lineman in terms of athleticism joining Rieff and Gettis. We need Tobin and Scherff playing at a high level next year with one of them starting at left tackle (Rieff will be...

Could our O-linemen be healthy and athletic +10-15 more lbs.

Scherff played better than Tobin? I guess you give no credence to the coaches or Hakeyegamefilm. Scherff has ability, but he missed his assignments too many times. When the compeition level increased mid-season Scherff struggled. That is why he sat the last few games. I hope he improves...

You have to run the QB

Agree with this completely! Our defense is not the best but it is serviceable. We had zero points until late in the game, and were dominated concerning the time of possession.

    10-0, Our defense really stinks

CJ is really playing poor today with his blocking.

    10-0, Our defense really stinks

Okay, for the few posters who can not read between the lines, yes I am joking. I think our defense is playing fine, our offense needs to play at a higher level.

    10-0, Our defense really stinks

Our defense is really terrible, we can't stop anybody. Thank goodness against better competition, our offense shines.

    Why do people see this...

It is hard to tell. Right now the top two reserves on the line are Tobin/Scherf (they alternate starting) and Boffeli. You have to assume Riley goes pro (If he can go in the first round, he would be a fool not to go). Tobin and Boffeli are going to have a great chance to start. Tobin has...

This lawyer thinks JoePa acted correctly both morally and ethically

If you want to be an apologist that is great. I love your empathy, putting yourself in Joe's shoes, and how we are all having these knee jer reactions. Why don't those who have empathy directed to Joe direct it to the victims. Ask yourself this question. If Sandusky's last victim was your 9...

    It's the offense, baby.

When we were in the redzone our blocking broke down, with the running backs, with the offensive line. This put our QB in a 3rd in long, which is very hard to pick up in the redzone. You have to know your blocking assignments in the redzone.

    Miller: Low Point Loss

Jon, we get zero pressure on the quarterback, we were not even close to sacking him on 99% of the plays. Any quarterback can have success against us. It is not our vanilla defense, we just don't have the talent to put any amount of pressure on them. We don't need to throw our defense out. How...
