    Changes/Tweaks for Next Season

Good point. I suspect there will necessarily be some changes (or at least differences) because of the experience disparity between Stanzi and JVB (and their ability to read defenses).

    Changes/Tweaks for Next Season

I agree. Interestingly, we did that against Ohio St. (that is, go to dime on obvious passing downs), which I hadn't seen us do very often before that. So that was encouraging. Maybe our depth at CB just wasn't good enough to make a big difference (ie, they were faster than LBs but not athletic...

    Changes/Tweaks for Next Season

I know many here are calling for large-scale change (of coaches, of entire schemes, general philosophies, etc.); and perhaps understandably so. Knowing Kirk, though, that's not what we're going to see. So, with that in mind: what smaller changes do you predict Kirk & co. will make this...

    Norm Parker?

I agree that Norm is great and that our defense during his tenure has generally been stellar; but, as much as the offense fell apart in all 5(6) of our losses this year, it was our defense that, in each loss, gave up the lead and allowed a late -- and long/painful -- scoring drive for the...

    Academic All-Big10

Congrats to all those who qualified! Some great Hawks on there (too few, though, especially compared to other teams). Also, anyone else surprised that Pryor made this list? Good for him (especially as his major is Criminology and not something like Sports & Leisure studies), but I have to say...

Paterno back at PSU in 2011

LINK: Joe Paterno plans to coach Penn State Nittany Lions in 2011 - ESPN STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- Joe Paterno says he plans to return as Penn State coach next season, putting an end to any speculation about retirement. The Nittany Lions meet Michigan State (No. 10 BCS, No. 11 AP) in the...

KF's NFL mentality gives us the highs and the lows

This is a good thread and I agree. A stubborn refusal to make adjustments (especially on defense) might work when you have NFL-like players (tOSU comes to mind...Tressel does more or less the same thing), but I wonder if it will work here... That being said, on the question of emotion, I am...

    Is Ken really the problem?

I think this is certainly true for the D. Probably for the O, too. That makes for a predictable offense AND defense. At some point, you have to change your defensive scheme. It's not always about players just "playing better" as Kirk always says.

    Is Ken really the problem?

I agree 100%. But how much of that is on Rick choosing to throw those improbable passes on 3-and-short and dump-offs on third-and-long? I guess probably a little of both.

    Is Ken really the problem?

People criticize him for continuing to pass when we're up 10 because Stanzi subsequently throws an INT. But I guarantee that people would be just as upset if we had gotten conservative, run the ball, and settled for a FG on that drive. While I have no problem criticizing the coaches, I don't...

    timeout instead of spike

Exactly, this is what I thought. But the others may be right about the illegal formation. Either way, a botched ending all around.

    timeout instead of spike

For what it's worth, it looked like this from my vantage point in section 126: Stanzi, ready to snap it and spike it, looked to the sideline, where Coach Campbell and another assistant coach were holding up the diamond symbol with their hands...which must be the signal for some play, not a...

    New Scoreboard at Kinnick?

Apropos the Michigan scoreboards being bad: that might be intentional seeing as Michigan is really proud of having the first electronic scoreboard in all of college football. So they might want to preserve that older style and avoid new-fangled (albeit better) technology.

    Congrats to Brad Rogers

Agreed! He had some SOLID blocks for A-Rob and also seemed to do well in PP.

Daniel Murray status for this weekend

Haha, remember Murray's (failed) run to the endzone on a 2pt conversion (or was it a fake field goal?) last year?

Which scenerio gives us best BCS title game chance?

This one of the dumber posts I've read, assuming Herkeynerd is neither a coach nor a player (probably a safe assumption). What function do message boards serve if they're not a forum for fans to exchange bits of information, share their hopes for upcoming games, and ponder perhaps unlikely but...
