I saw on ESPN.com that that Paterno will be returning to PSU as their head coach in 2011. This has to help Iowa's chances at getting the Outback bowl over Penn State. Good news all around I suppose.

Joe Paterno plans to coach Penn State Nittany Lions in 2011 - ESPN

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- Joe Paterno says he plans to return as Penn State coach next season, putting an end to any speculation about retirement.

The Nittany Lions meet Michigan State (No. 10 BCS, No. 11 AP) in the regular-season finale on Saturday, leading some fans and writers to wonder if this would be the 83-year-old coach's last appearance at Beaver Stadium.

Paterno said his team has struggled at times this year because of youth and injuries, but that the Nittany Lions have a chance to be good next year and that he's looking forward to being part of it.

"I'm looking forward to it," Paterno said at his weekly Tuesday news conference. "I think we can be a pretty good football team next year, and I'd like to be a part of it. ... It's been a good situation and I don't see any reason to leave it right now."

Paterno appears healthier now after offseason illnesses slowed him down. The 2011 season would be the last year of a three-year extension signed in 2008.

What else is he going to do? His coaching duties likely consist of him telling the team before the game to, "go out and get 'em". Plus, look what happened to Bear Bryant and Woody Hayes - neither of them made it a year after they retired. As long as Joe Pa keeps coming back, he'll live to be 120. God Bless him

I guess I'm missing something.. Why would the fact that PSU is playing MSU on Saturday make people think that Paterno might be calling it quits after this season?

He must know that if he stops coaching he'll keel over.

That's not snark. That happens to guys like him.

After a while it's going to just be Weekend at Bernie's PSU style. They'll preserve his body and prop it up on the sidelines with a headset on.

It's Penn State's last home. Has nothing to do with them playing MSU. People wondering if he might be coaching his last game in Beaver Stadium.

That's funny, norwalk. I keep telling a PSU friend that the red-headded guy on PSU's sideline is just there just to keep JoPa up to date on what is going on in the game. :)
