Daniel Murray status for this weekend

Kirk just said he is now 100% and ready to go this weekend. No comment on if he will start or what his role will be.

This is a plus. We haven't seen enough of Meyer yet and Mossbrucker concerns me. Daniel has been on the stage before and come through. While not outstanding, overall he is a solid kicker.

I'm also in the happy-to-have-Murray-back camp. While not Nate Kaeding, he's done a better than okay job. Plus I'd rather trust the devil I know, rather than the devil I don't.

plus being a SR and having his game experience is a big plus. Everyone remembers Murray hitting the game winner vs PSU in 08, but its easy to forget he hadn't kicked in a game for several weeks as Mossbrucker was #1.

How great would it be if Murray got called in to make a game-winning FG in Iowa City vs PSU AGAIN?!

Don't get me wrong, I'd rather win by 35 with Coker scoring the final TD with 2 minutes to go in the 4th, but it'd be pretty cool if Murray dashed PSU's hopes twice in a row in IC.

Is Kirk going to bench stanzi and put in Murray?

Oh wait, i know what you were thinking now! Fake field goal TD pass from RYAN "heisman" DONAHUE to Murray. GREAT CALL!!!

PSU doesn't really have any hopes to dash this time around, though. I did find it ironic that the FG Murray hit at PSU to put the final nail in the coffin was from 31 yards. Distance of his game-winner in IC: 31 yards.

Wasn't that Murray's first kick of the year in '08? mossbrucker wasn't very happy that ferentz chose murray with little game experience for that year- I remember that being a big deal. his "soccer" style celebration was priceless. i just hope it does not come down to that, but if we do- i want his foot connecting with the pigskin.

No. Murray handled all the kicks over 40 yards in 2008 (granted, we didn't try many, but a few). I still feel like Ferentz brought him in because he was older, and it was a high-pressure situation.

And I agree, Murray's celebration was the best part of the night. It gives me goosebumps everytime I see it.

I knew it was something of the sorts. I just googled Daniel Murray and was fortunate to find the right answer:)D lol). He hadn't kicked an "in game" field goal in over 45+ days, that is what the announcers were saying.

I personally would be worried about this coming game because he won't have had a live "in game" attempt in almost 10 months- dating back to his kick in the Orange Bowl.

Good news. While I dont think he is our best kicker, he seems to be the best "game" kicker we have.

Haha, remember Murray's (failed) run to the endzone on a 2pt conversion (or was it a fake field goal?) last year?

This is good news. He brings experience to the game. His kicking technique has probably declined, as he's tried to gain more power in his kicks, but let's hope he can hit FGs.

Having a good kicker is always a good thing. You have to be able to get points where you can.

This is good news have not seen enough of Meyer and Trent not sold on him would not trust him in a final game kick for sure.
