Time to Kick Penn St out of the league....

This is gross. Time to end the relationship to this morass. Delaney doesn't like it when the family's name is hurt.... how can he think this is a good idea to keep this one around.

Rename it to Pedo State.

Pretty sickening stuff. How could so many people turn their backs on this and allow it to happen?

I can buy that a lot of people were fooled by Sandusky, he put on a good public front...but not everybody. It's becoming evident he has some enablers in pretty high positions of power that made it possible.

I bet some people suspected something but didn't want to believe it so they just didn't say anything or do anything. I think sometimes people find it hard to believe that something like that could happen even though their instincts are telling them something is not right.

Good approach......That’s definitely one of the ways people process things. Had a friend I met in Kirksville, Mo tell me a story many years ago about a friend he vehemently defended on the witness stand from such allegations only to eventually find out it was true. Had a guy in my church be accused and then years later convicted. I know full well how these things happen…very, very sad, but it is happening in your own back yard so be careful who you chastise.

I would have bought this argument prior to the trial and the first couple of testimonies. Have you been paying attention to the trial? I'm just asking, not trying to be smart (I know that sounds like I'm being a smart a$$ but I really didn't mean it that way).

McQueary testified today. During his testimony he flat out said that he heard skin on skin slapping and turned around to see an appx 10 yr old boy with his hands up against the wall and Jerry Sandusky behind him. McQueary said his mind was racing and he had trouble deciding what to do. He slammed the locker on purpose because he thought that would signal Sandusky to knock it off, and then he ran upstairs to his office and called his Dad. McQueary said that his Dad and he personally spoke with Paterno. He stressed during his testimony that he made it very clear to Paterno that what he saw was sex.

I simply can not get myself to believe that Joe Freakin Paterno didn't do a damn thing about it. That is so hard for me to believe, but it seems like that's what happened here. A guy who spent his entire life developing kids into grown men couldn't step up and help younger boys who needed it the most. That's just appalling to me. Usually I would think the OP is being way to dramatic. However, it's becoming painfully obvious throughout the trial that a lot of adults knew what was going on here and chose to look the other way. It's for that reason and that reason alone that I actually agree with the OP. I'd rather see PSU replaced with a program who has credibility. A program with credibility athletically, academically, and most imporantly morally. PSU might not ever have moral credibility again.

there is no questioning as to why joe died so fast after this came out. he was protecting his legacy/psu over the interests of little kids getting raped in his locker orom.

how long until they kick us out for turning our heads over players raping everybody?

That’s a little strong, but I do get what you are saying. Some are quick to crush their mirrors and grab the pitch forks, torches and ropes.....

Duff,

Are you seriuous with this? Name on case that was not investigated? Name one player still on the team after any alegations brought against them? No comparision between the two at all. Pretty sickening all around. You are a better poster than this.

He is saying (I believe) its only a couple small steps and in some people’s minds we didn’t do enuff and tampered with evidence....it’s all a matter of many perspectives and what you want to see....

Same goes with bringing allegations towards anyone for anything…..and history has proven this PSU thing (as salacious as it is) has happened in some capacity over and over and over again. Yet here we are on a message board casting stones and asking for the piper to be paid. Someday someone will ask it of us.

This is terribly untrue. The media has made it seem that he did not do something, and some outlets have told what really happened. Paterno did not simply sit there and do nothing. He reported it to his higher- ups. I think alot of people being forced into that situation would do the same. Paterno probably heard the story McQueary told him and was in shock that a person that he knew, a coworker who he never would have expected to be capable of doing such acts, and was in utter shock and disbelief.

He told his bosses exactly what McQueary told them. He didn't wanna call the police because, like most people you would inform your higher-ups before taking such a drastic measure to keep them informed. His superiors told him, not to worry they would take care of it. And that is what Paterno thought was happening, an investigation, or his higherups were taking care of the problem.

I understand Paterno's actions. He didn't see anything and was told, and wanted to inform his higherups, especially with someone he knew and could not believe would do that, and didn't wanna taint his reputation on something that may have been seen in error.

I am most mad at McQueary, he say it first hand. He should have called the police and told his superiors. He actually saw it...

If we had more people that thought like this we'd be a better world for it. Though in McQueary's defense Im sure he was in shock, but Id hope (stressing hope) if it were me in that situation I'd have scremed out what the hell are you doing?!?!

Paterno died from the shame... not to protect an already tarnished legacy.

The only issue with all this is that the McQueery situation was the 2nd time and after Sandusky had retired. And lets be honest Sandusky retired because he was a known pedophile. Then it happens again and this time witnessed by an actual football staff member. Paterno and everyone in the football program knew exactly what was happening and Paterno and McQueery are weak pansies.
Also I believe it came up today that Tom Bradley came in one day and the Sandusky was showering with a boy, Bradley thought it was weird so he got in the shower to, just in case. C'mon man, this is a sick group of people all conspiring to cover up for the legendary Paterno and PSU program.
I am personally a little surprised school officials didnt offer Sandusky and his family some confidential money to take a plea for this stuff. I cannot envision any reason the school would ever want all this crap coming out in Sandusky's criminal trial. Everyday of this trial is costing the school more and more money on the civil side as they look worse and worse.

I agree with you that they were all pretty weak individuals. I just feel to much blame was put on Paterno, but it was because he was the face of the program, and his firing was somewhat of a symbol of PSU washing their hands of it and taking a stance to show they didn't condone it. I also agree with you on the stance that PSU did not want this to come out in public. These details are insane, there is no way any school would want any details public.

I think everyone involved wants the truth out...now at least. They would not offer him money. This isn't an institutional thing as much as it is a societal thing and a humanity thing. People don’t want to get involved, get dirty or be called out…..

As much as it seems (to me at least) that many want to make this a PSU thing. It’s a way bigger issue than that. People often times turn away…it’s sad, but it’s been proven 100s and 1000s of times. Then everyone out of harm’s way chastises them and calls them out and then when it’s their turn in the fire, they fail just as badly.

I pray I never have to be in that situation and if I am the Lord guides my actions with wisdom.
