listen troll, i waste enough time on here, i don't have time to follow other team's recruiting tendencies. all i know is ISU's starting 5 consists of 4 transfers. i'm sure you have an all world class coming in, much like this sweet 16 team you currently have...

all i know from my ISU friends is that he really doesn't like Ames and isn't in college to get a degree.
Well he's not going to play in the NBA so if he wants to go play in the D-League, he can move to Des Moines and do that.

That's probably true of 99% of DI players. If they had the skill to leave early and had good advice on being drafted in a good spot I would think they all would leave.
So you admit to being ignorant to Fred's recruiting yet make definitive statements about it. Cool.
Royce isn't an NBA player right now by any stretch. Doesn't mean he won't be by the end of the year or make a bad decision, of course.
He's too big to play 3, too short to be a prototypical 4, he doesn't have a solid jump shot, he's not a very fundamentally sound rebounder, he's a good ball handler for a 4 and does see the court well but he's sloppy with the ball a lot of the time, he's not an NBA player. Good college player, not an NBA player.

They were working on other things it looked like to me...they totally changed their offensive sets in the 2nd half. They need to add more than just the NBA style high post set that they run with White every time down to do anything in the Big 12.
Unless he gets some REALLY bad advice and doesn't listen to Fred, or he is a completely different player at the end of this year, he will not be headed for the NBA.
He is a "tweener" as mentioned. Probably too small to play 4 and not a good enough shooter to play the 3. Not to mention, his D is very inconsistent. He has very little in the way of "back to the basket" post moves.
I see him back next year in all likelihood.

BJ Armstrong has no coaching experience. He could not coach. No experience.
I remember the posters getting roasted for suggesting such a thought back when we were searching for a coach. I'm not saying Fran won't get it done just that we may have also looked @ coaches such as BJ when we were searching. I can guarantee BJ would have had better recruits 2 years in.

That is a pretty solid squad, better than this year's team. Is Clyburn really a two, isn't he like 6'7? ISU has some good recruits coming in too. Fred needs to figure out the best way to utilize White. Having him hang back to help break some token pressure probably isn't the ideal way to use him.

Very doubtful, are people ever going to admit just how difficult of a situation Fran was put in?
He could have told players to walk, but he didn't, good move in my opinion. Fran has had to bring integrity back to Iowa and that would not have been the way to do it.
Transfers and taking on any players that are available with limited numbers of seasons left, like one are not short or long term fix.
I don't see a lot of those players having significant impacts accross basketball, the kid from Valpo at MSU is probably the best player to do this to date.
If you don't start building with freshman and you work that hard to bring in short term players, one day it will backfire and a coach will miss, if he misses on one or two of those players it sets back the program.
Look at what happened at Cincy when Huggins was fired...they took in two to three JUCO kids a year, Cronin had to completely start over...kinda like how Fran has had too.
BJ is my favorite player from Iowa basketball, but I don't believe he was even the next best hire for Iowa. Bring him in as director basketball operations and let him be the recruiting guy, fine.
Coaches with no experience have to bring in a good staff and that is very difficult if an inexperienced guy is running the show and the assistant is doing much of the work for him...don't see that being something sustainable either.
The Iowa job was the worst job in the Big Ten when Fran was hired, if you don't agree, just look. No matter what Indiana's record was they have a ton of history with NC's and it will be only a matter of time before they contend again.
When I was a kid, there were some really bad teams like NW, but they are a better program right now. Today, I think there is only one program that is in a worse state than Iowa and that is PSU, but Iowa has a real recruiting class and some solid players coming back moving forward Iowa is in good shape.
With the recruiting class they have and hopefully, Fran can hit a couple home runs this Summer heading into the Fall and put together another great class, Iowa can leap frog a lot of teams like Nebraska, Minnesota, NW and maybe even Purdue. There will be teams that have a dropoff as it always happens that Iowa may be able to jump as well.

Have you seen what kind of players the NBA drafts?
Its all about size and athleticism, skills are an afterthought. Rebounding? Defense? Irrelevant.
White has a very incomplete game but show me another player at that size who can handle the ball and pass like that and has good hops.
I can only think of one and he plays for the heat.
Not saying White is anywhere close to that but you are underestimating how unique his talent is and what the NBA is about.
Go look up the last 10 NBA drafts. If White comes out he is getting drafted and probably in the lottery.
