What's the story with Cartwright?

The story is there is a reason that no one really wanted him. He is finally starting to show us why.

Cartwright played well last year. Not sure what's up with him this year, but I'm hoping he breaks out of this funk soon. Either way, the team had a chance to gain some momentum last night but the wheels fell off. I do not think things will go well against the Clones whether Cartwright is playing or not

I'm sick of all these damn "injuries". The football team is just as bad. I've never seen so many players not playing b/c of sickness or these little injuries. I don't recall many other teams having this problem. Suck it up and play.

From talking with Fran last night (or should I say overhearing) - I wouldn't expect Bryce to be ready to go on Friday. And if he does play, he will be severely limited.

I cannot wait to see two teams play with no pg's on the floor. It is a very interesting strategy being used by both coaches. I have a feeling this game is going to be sloppy as heck.

Per his postgame interview that I believe Stormin posted, when asked about Cartwright and ISU, McCaffrey shook his head. I expect ISU to rain 3's on us. Cezar and OSU vs. Missouri State on ESPNU at 8.

What's the injury? Iowa was playing quite well for a good chunk of the UNI game. Was he playing? I was watching but didn't pay attention but am 99% sure he didn't.

Cartwright tweaked a hammy in the Brown game. I recall at the time seeing him sort of pull up lame on it but didn't say anything to the coaching staff right away or even ask to come out of the game which may have actually made the injury worse looking back on it. He warmed up for the Tues game but was unable to go and considering his history with cramping and the hamstring last year I believe, I suspect they will be overly cautious on the pre-season in favor of getting him healthy before big ten play so don't look for him on Friday in my opinion.

Not sure if last year's leading assist man in the B10 will be ready to go Friday or not. We'll have to wait and see.

2011 Bryce Cartwright in a nutshell, very good passer horrible shooter.

Bryce is OK but not a game changer. On Iowa he looks a lot better than he really is. He is good for this Iowa team because they are not good and lack a true PG. Bryce would be better off just looking to drive and dish as he is a bad shooter and shoots too much at times.

Mike Henderson is a better player than Cartwright. He was a better athlete and could get to the paint better and was twice the defender. Plus he had more size. But, I will admit I'm not a Cartwright fan.

I must have missed something, but why do Cyclone fans dislike Cartwright?

I don't dislike him personally. I just don't think he's worth a crap at pg. I know he led the conference in assists and am fully aware of his stats. But I still don't think he starts for another team in the Big 10 and there is a reason he was available so late. Nobody wanted him. He can't shoot, he can't play defense, and he's not a great athlete. He wastes motion when dribbling on fast breaks. I think for Iowa to get over the hump they need a PG who is at least decent.

Same for ISU, so don't think this is related to just Iowa. ISU needs a legit PG as well. Hopefully Allen can be servicable the remainder of they year and Lucious will be solid next year
