Iowa needs a fullback, BADLY. Bernstine needs to start. TE needs help.

Three main points from this game.

- Iowa really misses a legit fullback. Rogers can't get back soon enough.
- When Bernstine gets better, move Hyde back to CB, slide Bernstine to safety, bench Castillo
- Herman isn't getting it done, CFJ needs to step when he gets time.

This should be priority #1 for sure.

Agree 100%. ISU picked on Castillo all day. Hyde is good, and can play any secondary position. Bernstine needs to play. I said this during the game, and stand by it fully.

Now that I agree with 100%

I heard Bernstine didn't travel, any one know if this is true and what he had happen?

Could not agree more. Fullback won't be back, herman is for running only, and i really feel bernstine could make a significant difference on defense; but he needs to be used almost like bob sanders was; not our traditional 2 deep zone where there is not enough aggression. Hopefully he gets well soon. However, still early and we have seen this same song and dance for the last 10+ years. They could come back and look better like they usually do. The biggest difference could be that the defensive line looked really weak . I hope this isn't a trend?

Hate to call out an individual but Castillo doesn't have it. Hyde also has struggled in his transition. imo he blew the cover on the td to lentz and was beaten twice by deep posts neither of which hurt iowa- one was last week. D-line must finish when they get to QB. Every qb left on the schedule except for MSU's can win with his legs

Hyde is playing like a cb stuck at safety. You can see it in his tendencies. He's more dangerous at cb. Put him there.

I thought Tobin played poorly also on several key plays, looked to simply lack the necessary athleticism. Would love to see Scherff (sp?) get a chance.

Hawks were slow & out played. Can't really agree with picking on Castillo... he was right there in coverage but was just outsized and is the obvious option to attack b/w him and Prater. Could have used Bernstine but ISU had their share of players out or playing through injuries. Disappointed in the DL - only Daniels had some penetration. 2nd stringers seemed to give more effort. Particularly when the play was away, DL would jog & looked tired or lazy. Plenty of room to improve..

Isn't it funny how we go from one of the quicker defenses in years with the comments from last week to one of the slower defenses in 1 week? That usually means it's somewhere in the middle.

This. Coker got better as the game went on, which is a good sign. Sleeper looked lost on multiple occasions, we need Bernstine back there. Getting Lowery will be huge. LB's look solid. Daniel is worthless. O line was rusty but will be ok. Our wr's need to work on the blocking, really lacking since DJK is gone. Kicking game looks good. Vandenburg looked nervous, ala Minn in 09.

I thought McNutt blocked well yesterday. I think he did a lot of good things. He didn't get enough touches though.

Not only did Sleeper look lost on a couple plays, but he simply does not hit anybody. There were multiple times where he had an opportunity to make a tackle, but he dove at the ballcarrier's legs (and missed) or got tossed to the side like a rag doll when he made contact. He, along with Castillo, are simply not getting it done.

Why not Coker at fullback..Bullock or somebody RB..Coker seems a natural at FB seeing as he seems to be a between the tackles runner..
