Iowa needs a fullback, BADLY. Bernstine needs to start. TE needs help.

How bad of strep throat could Bernstein have possibly had? You would think someone who didn't do **** the first four years of his careers would want every possible chance to play.

Nevermind that the stuff is contagious, and the last thing we want is the entire team coming down with it.

Rogers is never coming back.

Yeah, doens't sound like it. One of those injuries (heart) that we've never really gotten any good answers on, never really known that much about. I have him on facebook and he says any day now but I just wonder if we'll ever see him...

Drive him out separately, give him his own hotel room. I'm sure he's not going to be quarantined from the team when they get back, and they're playing outdoors its not like they're in close quarters.

He may have been running a high fever, which is not what you want a guy playing football with. On a warm day like yesterday, you don't want someone running around with a fever in triple digits (IDK if he did or not, but that is a possibility).

Why not Coker at fullback..Bullock or somebody RB..Coker seems a natural at FB seeing as he seems to be a between the tackles runner..

Yeah...maybe, not too bad of an idea. Coker's a big, lumbering guy, kind of fits a fullback mode...could try it. I don't think he's our problem right now though, but this isn't all that bad of an idea....

Coker is a HB. Fullback is a totally different position. How much he runs between the tackles isn't a factor as our FB rarely carries the ball and usually only touches it on passes out of the backfield. In addition with the loss of MCall we are pretty thin at RB as well.

Coker to FB isn't really an option.

That spells big trouble.

And Cousins is good enough to beat us without scrambling. It's going to be a long season. When you look at the NFL talent that has come through this program lately the on the field results have been extremely disappointing. I think it's becoming clear that our coaching staff's game planning is holding us back from winning more than helping us.

There is a 0% chance that this happens.

I thought McNutt blocked well yesterday. I think he did a lot of good things. He didn't get enough touches though.

I couldn't tell but I wonder if they were blanketing him? He has really impressed me this year, he looks better physically and looks to have much more drive. I would go to him as often as possible.

I had strep throat in college. In addition to the 102 degree fever, the fatigue, and the bloody lesions on my throat I wasn't able to swallow anything other than liquid for 3 days and I lost 8 pounds. I think I'll give Bernstein a pass here.

Not saying I thought it would happen..but having FB's that rarely touch the ball may be more because of who we've had at FB..and yes it's a different position..but totally?..Rogers was a RB if I remember right until they switched him..I think you want as many playmakers out there as possible..I think of the nasty talented tandem of Bettis (FB who switched to RB in the pros..not TOTALLY different apparently) and Watters back in the day.. Coker at FB and Mcall (sigh) at RB would be awesome..(assuming Coker can block of course)

I have no idea how ND used their FB back in the day but in our offense the FB is basically just a glorified OL with decent hands. Yes Rogers switched back from FB but he had played that position for at least a year so he wasn't completely new to it, and it was an absolute emergency that caused the switch.

They had over the top safety help to his side for most of the day.

There's no way you'd want Jordan playing with strep throat in 80+ weather. Not a chance.

This kid has been dying to get on the field for years, I'm sure if he could have played he would have. D1 athletes put in alot alot of work, he wouldn't sit out if there was any way to play.

These points may all be true but none of them ultimately address our inability to apply sufficient pressure to the QB and that's where our problems originate. Those who thought our front four were a disappointment last year will learn to appreciate what that DL did if we continue to see this level of play from this year's group.
