Those pesky Gophers...

OK, couldn't find the link (likely because they nuked it)...but our Goopher friends are struggling. Marquis Gray (supposedly Dennard Robinson lite) sucks. He was tossed out of practice yesterday after 5....yes 5... fumbled snaps in PRACTICE (to quote Allen Iverson..."We talkin' bout PRACICE"). The kid just doesn't have "it". As in...the inate abilty to play and lead a team sport.

Much as Jerry "bad teeth" Kill sounds solid. It would seem the Goophs still have some personnel issues. From what I'm reading/seeing/hearing...it's on a number of levels. Talent. Intelligence. and "football IQ"...not to mention basic physical ability.

Man did Brewster screw that program up.

We might want to wait until after we don't embarrass ourselves this year to talk smack. It was a cold day in those stands last year.

It's still a loss. And it was cold.

Kill has been a successful head coach wherever he's been, including turnaround situations. Maybe they don't win B1G titles, but Minnie will be respectable soon. My days of mocking the Golden Goof-offs may be short.

Favorite line at B1G presser: "Can you imagine going through airport security with my name?" Guess he gets patted down all the time.

PJHawk, I'm not sure how stating that "only one player showed any desire to win", doesn't support dyerhawk's comment that we beat ourselves.

Saying "we beat ourselves" in the context of football games indicates that but for a team's own foolish mistakes the outcome of the game would have been different. The Iowa team that showed up at TCF stadium had been so demoralized from the worst stretch of November football since Kirks' first year that they simply mailed it in that day.

There was a bad snap within our own twenty, and Coker had the ball helmeted out of his arm even though he switched to the outside arm. I'm sure that was Minnesota's game plan, they got our number guys, we're in their scope. Their game plan was for us to commit uncharacteristic turnovers.

Iowa football starts with winning the battle at the line of scrimmage, especially against an inferior opponent. We did not do that against Minny last year, and they were an inferior opponent. We did not have the fire that day.
