Overpaid College Coaches List

Nice try, old horny one...this is the same website that promoted the story about Michigan president Mary Sue Coleman being drunk during her halftime talk on Saturday...of course, it turned out that the sound system was screwed up and she received a massive apology from Michigan officials. But, no apology from the website that put their speculation up front in bold letters. Next time, be smart enough to check your sources before you blow your own horn.

The only way to accuracy measure this is to divide the net profits if the football program by the pay of the coach. The coach with the smallest number in relation to his salary is the most overpaid.

On that note Iowa's football program was #17 in the country making 50.6 million in 2012. Not too shabby.

So who should be on the list then?

"Weis is also receiving an additional $2 million-a-year from Notre Dame as part of his buyout package for a grand total of $4.5 million per year to run fake punts from its own goal line. Yes, Charlie Weis is the most overpaid college football coach at not one, but two schools."

Winner. Hands down, winner.

Charlie Weis, to borrow his own phrase he used to describe his own players at KU, is a "pile of crap."

As long as he is getting paid to coach college ball (or to not coach, like ND chose), he will keep the No. 1 spot for overpaid coach.

Im glad Weis is failing straight on his fat arse. Hated that tool ever since his opening PC at Notre Dame claiming that in every game he coaches there his team would have a "decided schematic advantage". Wrong Chuck.

I am the most overpaid coach in the country, and I volunteer, I just get a nice gift from the parents at the end of the year...more than I deserve.

This is great except for the part about Charlie Weis being overpayed. The guy can flat out coach, went to a couple BCS bowl games, Super Bowl win as a coordinator, recruited a bazillion five star all americans super star can't miss prospects.

He went to BCS games twice with a roster full of Willingham's players. Not to mention they got absolutely mauled both times in those BCS games. He was a great NFL coordinator, which has nothing to do with this list.

I have a sense you are trolling this topic though.

I have the same feeling. But what the hell. Can't stand CW. Never liked the guy — and then he started calling college athletes who play for him garbage.

The guy who recruited a "bazillion five star all americans super star can't miss prospects" has a lifetime record of 38-45 as a head coach in NCAA FBS games. In seven seasons as head coach, he will record three winning seasons. Came out of the gate (with another guy's recruits) with 10 wins — more than 25 percent of his win total — and then went on the tailspin from there.

Notre Dame did something right — they paid that worthless sack to not coach. Which is quite unfortunate. I HATE Notre Dame football. For guys like me, Charlie is the best thing that could ever happen to that program.

Rant nearly over. Now you all know two things:

1. I loathe Charlie Weiss and think he is the most overpaid, overblown, overhyped coach in college football.
2. No one will convince me otherwise — no matter how hard they try.

Rant over.

FWIW, I'm not overly excited about Captain Kirk's contract, either. But we don't need thread 1,001 on that topic. I prefer to rant on Charlie.

BTW - I live in Kansas. Folks here didn't like the hire when it happened, and they really don't like what's going on in Jayhawk land right now.

I want to see the highest paid state employees of all 50 states.
