NW 36 Ill 21

Illinois is too much "me" and not enough "we". They have been like that for the last few seasons. McCamey and now Brandon Paul are looking to get theirs and thats it.

Their last 2 games, blowouts at Wisky and at home to NU, they have made 37 FG's. They have only 8 assists on those 37 FG's.

Their assist to turnover ratio last night was 1:3.

This was not a well played game by either team.

If this keeps up, Illinois will be looking for another coach at the end of the year...they play way too much one-on-one and have no team concept.

Ummm No. I like Groce but he is hamstrung with Seniors from the Weber era. Paul and Richardson need to go before this team can change the way they play. I will give Groce at least 3 years before I make a judgement on him. Also don't forget Illinois never fires people to soon. See Weber, Zook, and Ron Turner as examples.

Spot on.

Those were all Ron Guenther guys. Guenther is gone, we don't know how the new AD will respond. I, for one, am happy that there is at least one athletic department in the conference that has both of its revenue sports in a somewhat worse position than Iowa. It is tough to do and hopefully PSU will get down there as well, but our inability to rely on NU as a cellar dwellar means we really need to cheer for Illinois to continue to stink or else Iowa might become the worst athletic department in the conference.

True on Ron Guenther I guess we will see how Thomas handles things.

You can say the same thing about Iowa, Northwestern, Wisconsin........

Yes it is true for any team, but no other team in the B10 is as dependent on the 3 as Illini, and when is the last time Iowa lit it up behind the 3 point line? Justin Johnson?

hmmmmm, Marble in the NIT last year....Gatens most of the 2nd half.......

Northwestern relies on the 3 to win as much as Illinois does.

Gatens was a one-man band in that stretch. Marble did it for one game.

Illinois did it for like 15 games and knocked off top-10 caliber teams. The odds of them getting hot for a night are much higher than the odds are for Iowa, who's spent most of the year not being able to hit the broad side of a barn.

No kids from Glencoe are going to Illinois, they're going out east or west, to Michigan, to NU or U of C. Illinois is for the mid-proles out in the west burbs who got a few more ACT questions right than the future plasix salesmen and hot girls in their classes who end up going to Iowa, Indiana and Miami of Ohio.

b!tch

I get that but I responded to a post that said when they hit the 3s they can knock off anybody, well that can be said about several teams.

'sup, brah? It's da troof and you know it. Had you gone to Illinois, your whole "you buy teh plasix, I buy teh beer" wouldn't work because you would have been turned into an introverted beta man like everyone else who goes to Champagne and you would have never developed your strong liquor holding skills (which failed you one time when they were really needed).

I had the ACT score for hellannoy, but my HS GPA (and associated class rank) came up a tad short, in their opinion.
I'm smott. I've always tested very well. But I was bored by the stupid coursework at Downers Grove South and it showed in my GPA.
Best thing that evar happened to me was applying to teh Iowa in '83. Srsly.

The highest rated players in those top classes were Jereme Richmond and Meyers Leonard. Both are gone.

If Groce had Leonard on his roster, they would have some kind of paint game.
They have a top guard coming in next year,Malcolm Hill, along with Tate out of Simeon.
I think Groce can recruit, but the jury is out on his coaching skills.
Mike Thomas,Illini AD,has hired two guys out of the MAC...football idiot Beckman, and Groce...jury is out on thomas.

Mah freshman roomie at Iowa was from Glencoe. However, he did transfer to Michigan after that year. But he did intorduce me to all the west-burb mid-proles from Wheaton, who were also Jon Beutjer's crew...another west burb mid-prole to go to Illinois.

So in summation, your theory holds water. You win one internet.
