Last year Marble was a point guard. This year he's a wing. His job this year is to get open and create. It's the job of the point guards to distribute. I thought Marble had as many or more open looks vs. Indiana than he had against most other teams this year. Frankly, I thought Marble took better shots than most of the players on the team. They just didn't fall. It happens.
Agree, but he did force some things in the lane and missed open guys, look his game would be less noticed if he hits the wide open jumpers.
Not having that old reliable shooter like he had with Gatens probably caused those forced shots in traffic, other times he got fouled and those were not bad shots.
Marble wasn't awful, he just missed open shots and on a couple he looked hesitant, he just can't do that. If Marble is going to be the guy Iowa relies on, he has to hit the wide open ones, if not create with the dribble and find the open guy. He can't change who he is overnight, he still needs to think like a PG at times, it won't hurt his game. When he is a "stat sheet stuffer" Iowa is better for it.
Gesell took some good shots, just didn't get enough shots. White took good shots, but I didn't think he was strong enough going to the hoop. Woodbury took good shots, he was playing a million miles an hour.
Actually, I thought Iowa only had a few bad shots, the worst ones coming late in the game, blame what you want, but Iowa wasn't moving the ball very well for most of the game. Early in the 2nd half they did, but all that good ball movement went away in crunch time and it is just not how this roster is built at this point.
