Touche'...but really its an American thing for a lot of people. IMO anyway.

I love that the people who are football fans sit around and claim that soccer is too boring. Football contains, in a 60 minute game, 11 minutes of actual action. The guy who claims nothing happens in soccer has no problem wasting 3 hours on a Sunday watching guys literally standing around in between boner commercials.

Read up a little on the homeless and under privileged in the United States before you make that comment friend. Then spend a little time investigating the world powers that “areâ€￾ soccer…France, Spain, Germany, England, etc….compare pretty favorably to the US.

If you didn't grow up with teh sport, it is hard to understand it.

Think about this, how would you explain American football to someone who has never seen it? There is no short explanation of teh game. Soccer is much le same way. Watching le game off teh ball is moar interesting than anything, but if you don't get teh game, you won't understand it.

I have 2 daughters and they both play soccer and one of them tried wrestleing this year. No I am not worried about them being injured honestly, and it is not because I don't care. I worry about them every minute of every day, but for reasons other than sports. People are acting like it is a certainty if kids play sports they will get a concussion and then long term brain damage, which is just not even close to reality. Again bike accidents by far are more worrisome to me, so my kids where helmets when they ride their bikes, my wife works with the mentally and physically disabled and many of them with TBI's (traumatic Brain injuries) are from bike accidents or falls. NONE of them are from sports, epecially ones where they wear helmets.

Soccer is dangerous because all the center refs are old, fat/slow and try to ref the entire game while never moving from the center circle. They never seem to care how physical a game gets or about a kids health.

But guess what we don’t care if you like it, but it most assuredly isn’t because they don’t have “anything else”……..only a very short-sighted dim wit would even offer that up. Baseball, tennis, cricket, lawn bowling, badminton, basketball, hockey, gran prix racing, rally racing, super bike racing (multiple leagues and levels), etc, etc….. are all huge sports in these other countries, and I mean huge…Baseball and basketball have grown exponentially to the point their abilities and following have begun to rival ours and yet it isn’t even CLOSE to rivaling soccer….NOT CLOSE!!! Three of the top 7 richest sports franchises in the world are soccer teams and number 1 Manchester United has an estimated 330 million fans and it’s all because they aint got nothing better to do…….lolololol

These countries have spectator sports we don’t even know about and we cajole ourselves by pretending like they are intellectual dimwits who have nothing but “soccer”….yeah keep telling yourself that. It’s the beautiful game for a reason friends and it aint because it’s boring….

Soccer is my favorite sport to watch. It's like baseball. If you're just waiting for home runs, you're going to be disappointed. But if you're able to recognize the difference between a curveball and a fastball, you realize that something meaningful happens every thirty seconds. The same is true for soccer. You just have to recognize "the pitches", so to speak.

Additionally, following a team helps. If you know a team's personnel and tactics, you get a better sense of what they are trying to do, and a better sense of context as a whole. Here is an article I wrote on soccer in the US:

Been totally waiting for you to come back on here dude. Knew you would and I already knew what you’d say and I’d say in return. You guys, again YOU GUYS (loud enuff for you) can’t stay out of a soccer thread and you can’t just say you don’t like it. You have to insult the game AND those worldwide who enjoy it.
