WORST Play call of the year....I got it, right here.........

Despite umpteen turnovers in the1st half vs the Cornholers, Iowa has the ball with a minute to go
& a 10 point lead. 10-0. Iowa gets ball, First and ten at about the 30 yard line.

SO many Hawkeye fans complained when Iowa kneeled the ball at end of halves, in past, right??
(You know who you are, right Joe Tavern?)

This time though..........Iowa decides to 'take a shot'. #22 lines up wide left and JR heaves the bomb.....incomplete.

OK, now there's less than a minute, so we hand it off to Mark Weisman and take the 10 pt lead into half-time, Right??

WRONG>.......some Chucklehead apparently thought it was a fine, fine idea to throw another short pass to #22!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DUMB DUMB..........the WORST. #22 promptly Coughs--it-up . Cornolers get ball and score 10-7.

IOWA would be 8-4 and headed for Florida, if that second DUMB pass wouldn't have been run. DUMB DUMB.
Did I mention that it was a bad PLay call?? THE WORST

so its a bad call because.......?

pass coverage N was in?

poor recognition of defense?

22 fumbled?

short pass to fastest playmaker Iowa has?

Without question, the worst play call of the year was calling for a run (for the second time in the game) on third and long against ISU.

I'd say the second punt to Pierson-El was pretty dumb, considering what he'd done all year and his previous return.

Yeah as bad as the punt coverage looked I have no idea why we kicked it to him. But if that didn't happen, I'm sure we would have been burned by a couple more Tommy Armstrong arm punts that seemed to befuddle the Iowa defensive backfield anyway.

Bad results, nothing wrong with the play. Ill take every single time GD called a pass play on 3rd down where no routes went beyond the LOS as a tie for the dumbest play.

So we complain when Powell doesn't get the ball, we complain when we don't throw deep, then we throw deep and it doesn't work, so we throw a screen to the fast guy that everyone on the internet loved last year, and internet wonderboy fumbles the ball. So obviously, the coaches must be fired and the internet posters should be running the athletic department.

That wasn't a bad play call let alone the worst play call of the year. Play calling got a lot of blame that should have fallen on Rudock. The 3 wide open misses alone in the Nebby game go to show that. Offensive play calling was way down on the list of the problem on offense. I don't consider strategy, playcalling ie. deciding to basically kneel the entire 2nd half isn't playcalling, it's strategy. Strategy dictates the play calling which was a much bigger problem. Personnel decisions like using Weisman on stretch plays was a big problem. Jake Rudock being used as QB was a big problem. Playcalling was a problem but nowhere near the biggest problem.

Remember the KOK years when the play would take forever to come in and Drew Tate would look at the sideline forever and they would get to the line late and rarely audibled and couldn't motion the tight end to get the read on the defense because the play clock was near zero?

Hey, pal, those were highly strategic, well thought out plays that were the conception of the next HC at Kansas and were perfectly executed by Tommy Armslug.

Thing of beauty, they were.

It's normally a bad idea to say "we complain" at all when talking about what individual people say on a message board. But when there is only one guy is saying it, it's a really bad idea.

So playcalling is responsible for fumbles now? Like the coaches fumbled the ball?

For those in Rio Linda, who need further explanation:

Hand the ball to Mark Weisman on that play..............Beat the Cornholers, Book flight to Florida for January Bowl.

End of story.

You see, I'm a Simple man.......not asking for much.

Nothing wrong???????????????????????????????????
It cost us the Win vs the Cornholers. Hand he da** ball off there and IOWA wins the game.
It sucked.
End of transmission.........

Seemingly 90% of the playcalls with GD seem idiotic (in which EVERYONE, especially the defense, knows what's coming based on formation). Rudock's 10 audibles a game to a 1.5 yd run by Weisman to the short side are idiotic too. 70% of O'Keefe's seemed idiotic (although they now look genius)

If you don't think this team could have still found a way to lose that game then you haven't been paying attention.

Exactly. If Nebraska would have needed 1 more score, there is a good chance they get it. There are enough stupid things to complain about that don't require hindsight to see.

I'm going with the 10-12 outside zone running plays to Weisman...which garnered one yard and the complete waste of a down. There, my 12 plays overrules your one play...it's not even close.
